Penang - Taiping - PJ Trip
30 Dec 2004 to 3 Jan 2005

  Day 2 - 31 Dec 2004
Firstly, an early morning shot of the Penang Bridge from the hotel room.

We then had standard hotel breakfast and walked near and about KOMTAR. At about noon, we met up with Uncle Albert who brought us to lunch at Lorong Selamat. The kuay teow is fantastic, but the lady stall owner has really nasty attitude.

The next place we visited was Kek Lok Si Temple at Air Itam. There were not many tourists, probably scared off by the tsunami.

Here is a scene of Georgetown from the base of the Kwan Im Statue.

We then returned to the hotel and took a shower, after which we walked down to the street, Lorong Baru, for dinner. The menu included pig intestine porridge, rojak, grilled fish, kuay teow, fried oysters and ice kacang.

Before the New Year's celebrations, here is a shot of our room. Although celebrations were cancelled in view of the tsunami catastrophe, we still saw quite a few fireworks from our windows.
