Penang - Taiping - PJ Trip
30 Dec 2004 to 3 Jan 2005

  Introduction
Considering that Grace's last trip to Penang was before the Penang Bridge, we had arranged for a trip to visit the Pearl of the Orient.

Just the week before, the biggest recorded quake in the Indian Ocean occurred just away from Aceh, Sumatera. A tsunami resulted and swept out into Aceh, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, and Penang. While over 150,000 are dead (as of January 2005), Penang suffered only 66 deaths.

Batu Feringhi was washed, and so were most of the northern villages and beach resorts. Gurney Drive had a splash and was quickly cleaned up.

Special thanks to Uncle Albert and Uncle Ooi for driving us around Penang, and to Chee Kean who booked our hotel and drove us around PJ.
