Another car!
We bought another car today, a red and white coupe. It’s a very small one seater for Joseph only.
It is a second hand item which we picked up from another family in Punggol, only 6 months old and very lightly used.

The baby boy of my sister was born today (12 Jan 2010) at about 6:30pm. Now Esther. David and Joseph have a cousin! His name is Yong Siu Hei 楊兆曦 (yáng zhào xī).
That’s the new family of three at Thomson Medical Centre:
Not what you are thinking.
We bought a second-hand spoiler from a Singapore Toyota Club forum member for the Isis on 31 Dec 2009 and installed it today (2 Jan 2010). Improves the back-end view of the car and provides a tiny little shade to the rear windscreen, helpful for the noon-day glare.
We decided that the matt black by the previous owner seems quite a contrast yet nicely compatible with the rest of the plastic parts, so we keep it this way for now. If there is any reason to spray any other parts of the car (and we pray not!) we will probably get this sprayed silver, too.
Currently not so permanently mounted with 3M car exterior mounting tape; the official way to mount this is to drill holes into the car to screw it on!
Today is also the last of Esther’s and David’s 18 sessions of swimming lessons. Esther can now swim without float for short distances in a beginner’s breast-stroke (3 kicks, 1 pull, breathe), and David is perhaps 2 days from that.
YowCH and Grace was married nine years ago on 16 Dec 2000. Today, we had an anniversary dinner at Prego, Raffles City with the children, mum, dad and Gene.
We had a free cake for being a member of the hotel chain.
Here’s a link back to our wedding site.
We bought the Advent Lego sets, City for Esther and Pirates for David, and they opened each of the the 24 individual windows from 1 Dec to 24 Dec, one a day (except the days they were not home). Each window contained a figure for assembly and play, and on the 24 DEc, they had the whole sets completed:
They had good discipline to open one at a time (never rushing to open the next) and also patiently waiting for the surprise item in the next window.
After much thinking and planning, with strong recommendation from Chee Kean, we bought an Acer AspireOne netbook (white) for Grace’s use on 20 Dec 2009. Costs $599.00, runs on Win7 Starter and Android, with free Targus travel mouse from Challenger.
We took a trip to PJ from 12 to 16 December; Grace had that week off and YowCH needed to clear leave.
Trip diary is here.
When we returned to Singapore, YowCH’s parents came along, and Loon joined us later on 18 Dec by bus.
Grace’s parents prepared a very sumptious dinner at Moh Guan on the day we arrived:
Over the weekend, we spent some time at Yan and Ping Quen’s place, with some mahjong action, especially for the ladies.
Very nice to have spent two weekends with YowCH’s parents. Loon and parents left by early flight on Tuesday morning (22 Dec, 7:30am).
On 30 Nov morning, we brought Joseph to Delta Swimming Complex for a swim. Esther and David were having swimming lessons there at 9:00am. With our new underwater casing for the F200 camera, here are some photos:
After the swim, we had a fast breakfast at Moh Guan with Grace’s parents, then left for Pontian for a short 2-day holiday.
Woohoo, last Sunday (29 Nov) we managed to get the whole set of 7 of the Constructicons at Funan ($78). Each transforms from construction vehicle to robot mode and they combine to form Devastator. The combined robot is actually very robust. Much better deal than the large $200 Devastator toy which only has vehicle mode and combined mode (no individual robots mode, no different from Voltron).
The packing:

We also bought the underwater casing for the Fujifilm F200EXR camera to shoot the children swimming. At $224.00, it is not cheap but we can have more pool, beach or sea fun with the camera.
Esther and David started taking swimming lessons, being the school holidays now. The teacher is Jeffrey from Happy Fish and the lessons are conducted on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9:00am to 10:00am at Delta Swimming Complex (near our home, just a very short bus ride away).
Joseph (and family) had dinner with Yan and PQ at Lao Beijing, Novena Square for his 1st birthday. He’s happily holding on to the red-pack that he received as present.
We’ll be going back to Pontian coming Monday and Tuesday to visit Grace’s grandma, together with Grace’s parents. Before that, on Monday morning, Joseph will join E&D for a swim.
