Bikes for Esther and Joseph, David’s shield

As Esther can ride a bicycle properly, we bought a new mountain bike for her, lovely to see her going around in a good bike. We also got Joseph a real bicycle with training wheels. He took to it very naturally and had great fun.

David will get his only if he can drop the training wheels for good.

Here, you see David’s first version of the Captain america shield:

With a little help from Grace, the second version is much better.

YowCH’s cousin’s visit

YowCH’s cousin, Yin Yin and her family (Chee Keong, husband and children Yen Yen and Yu Yu) came to Singapore for a short holiday from 4 to 6 Nov. We met up with them and had lots of fun.

We met on Friday night for dinner at O’Leary’s then a trip on the Singapore Flyer. If wasn’t too crowded so we had the whole capsule to ourselves. It was also Joseph’s first trip on this ferris wheel.

The next day, we met for lunch at Ronnie’s chicken rice at Rumah Tinggi.

Then, we had fun at the Underwater World (which was rather crowded with tourists). The dolphin show is now included and conveniently within the same facility rather than halfway across Sentosa Island.

We then had fun roaming Siloso Beach before going to The Mussel Guy at Vivocity for dinner.

Here at the Yow children:

And this is Siu Hei:

Then, just before leaving Singapore, we had hakka food dinner at Linda’s:

Home-made miniature trees

Not willing to spend money to buy a tree for about $25, YowCH made his own miniature tree from wires, paper clay, superglue and green-scrub. This one is about 65mm tall.

Space Marines captain painted, Blood Bowl miniatures

Here are the space marines miniatures which we assembled 2 weeks ago, shown here undercoated with black paint:

Focusing on the captain as a start, first step is to paint the base coat colours:

Next, the deep shading:

And then the dry-brushed highlighting:

Finally, the fine details:

In our trip home to PJ, YowCH brought back the Blood Bowl set he had 20 years ago, here are the Elves and Dwarves teams, with a cheerleader each team and a referee. There are 3 wooden spike balls and one normal (pig-skin) ball.

Short holiday at Fraser’s Hill

With the school teachers marking exam papers, Esther and David have holidays from Monday 17 Oct to Thursday 20 Oct. We took this off-peak opportunity to go on holiday, up to the cool highland of Fraser’s Hill from Mon to Wed. We had a great time enjoying the nature hikes in the many trails of Fraser’s Hill.

Horse done, space marines started

Esther and David finished painting their horse on 8 October:

And YowCH, managed to assemble 10 Space Marines:

LOTR miniatures painting completed

After working on the set of Citadel Miniatures from the Lord of the Ring game for 4 weeks (on and off), YowCH had finally gotten the last 4 hobbits done, hence the 9 members of the Fellowship of the Ring completed. The details are not fantastic and can certainly be better, but it has really been 20 years – the hands are more shaky and the eyes tire easily.

Oktober Fest dinner at Brotzeit

We decided to have German food for Oktober Fest, and met up with mum and dad at Brotzeit Vivocity for pork knuckles and sauerkrauts.

We ate the whole platter of meat, down to the last tomato!

And we had chocholate cake and Emperor’s Cake after for dessert.

Playground fun on Saturday

Look, instead of the “O”, the children are now at the “diamond”:

We had some time at the playground and a little walking around the neighbourhood.

Zoo trip with Lims

We had fun in the zoo with family of Samuel and Hwee Leng on 24 Sept 2011 (Saturday) from 8:30am until 1:30pm.

The photos are here.
