Shelves and Loon’s family

Two weekends ago, we used some salvaged shelving planks and built a shelf for photo albums, which is the shelf on the right of the photo below:

We then ordered two glass cabinets from V.hive which was delivered last Friday, and these two cabinets are displaying mostly toys.

From Thursday to Sunday, we had the joy to be with Loon and her family (husband, mum-in-law and sis-in-law), bringing them to the bank, shopping, lunches and dinners. They were in Singapore to enjoy two days and two nights of cruise on Superstar Virgo over the weekend. Below is a photo of lunch at Tunglok Signatures Vivocity on Sunday before sending them off.

Roland Micro Cube portable amp

We got a white portable (6 AA batteries) 2W amp from Roland, the Micro Cube. It is white and matches our guitar. While the power is low (only 2W) the sound is rather rich.

This amp comes with good effects and controls, it certainly provides lots of fun in addition to playing away from home (running on batteries)!

Isis fuel consumption improved

With the new tyres, we noted the fuel consumption increase, dropping the previous average of 10.50km/L on the 205 tyres to 9.20km/L on the new 225 tyres in our earlier post last month.

Now, with gentler driving, the fuel consumption has improved back to a decent level of average 9.70km/L. Perhaps the earlier dip is due to the excitement of having new tyres with high friction, hence pushing the car harder to enjoy the grip!

Isis spoiler set for bike rack, 3rd year wash & wax

Over Good Friday, we fixed the Isis spoiler to provide for the bike-rack. We taped 4 layers of 3M padded tape to set the spoiler out a little, with gaps where the strap can pass through. Hence, the weight of the bikes no longer bear directly on the spoiler, and we successfully drove more than 40km with 3 bikes on without any damage to the spoiler or mounting tape. Thank God for a simple and cheap solution.

Tomorrow (9 April) will be the 3rd year anniversary of the Isis, so after Easter Service, we took it for a wash and wax at Caltex, Jalan Bukit Merah. The wax is Sonax, total cost $50 + $5 (tips).

The children were most delighted to be in the car during the wash.

New addition to the guitar family

We added yet another guitar to the family, a Suzuki SST-1 basic electric guitar with a small 10W amp. The set was on offer at Cristofori for $199. Comes with guitar carry bag, extra set of strings, 3 picks, digital tuner, cable and strap.

Here’s Esther playing it, white is so cool.

The sound is electric, of course, and rocker songs sounds so much better played on this guitar compared to the acoustic guitars or ukuleles.

YowCH’s bike, cycling at Bishan Park, dinner with Yongs

Yesterday, YowCH bought a GT mountain bike, black. Nothing too great, but certainly better than rental bikes.

We had some fun biking around the Rumah Tinggi neighbourhood.

Here’s how the three bikes were loaded onto the car bike rack:

Then we drove over to Bishan Park to cycle about and to meet the Yongs.

For dinner, the Yongs treated us to a nice Western meal at Cornerstone, Bishan Park. It was meant for David’s birthday.

The strain of the three bikes on the Isis spoiler was just too high, the 3M tape couldn’t hold it down and peeled.

However, upon taking the three bikes out, the spoiler recovered. Thank God!

Here’s how the bikes are parked at home (just outside our flat, at the garbage chute area).

Updated 6 April 2012: our neighbour advised to remove all removable things and to chain the bikes securely as theft is rampant, which we duly did so. The bike seat, lights, pump and tool kit is now in the house. They even gave us an additional chain! Really nice guys.

David’s birthday cake at home

We had a small celebration at home on 25 Mar 2012 for David’s birthday (24 actual day) with a small Angrybird cake.

You can see that the largest portion is for David.

Cycling at ECP with eFG for David’s BD

Today is David’s birthday, he is now 8.

We went to East Coast Park with eFG for a morning of cycling fun. We met up with families of Quincy, Samuel Lim, Alvin, Hong Kian and Rachel. David invited along his best friend, Seva. You can’t miss Seva, he is blond (Ukrainian).

After a while of cycling, we had a break at Carl’s Junior.

But Grace, Joseph, David and Seva was not with the group, they were at base camp near Raintree Cove. David was playing with Seva at the breakwater.

Joseph was very keen on cycling, too.

This is the ‘car’ that the ‘baby’ gang drove, what the older children call the ‘green snail’.

After cycling, we had lunch with Seva and his dad at Burger King.

We thank God for good weather and fun time with friends. David received some presents from Seva (the bag and bottle resembles that which Seva is using).

Children cycling

Today, the children went cycling around the neighbourhood.

Joseph went quite fast.

Esther and David learned to cross drains, jump kerbs and Esther could actually cycle along on the kerb for about 8m!

Then we went off to get a drink at Ronnie’s chicken rice shop.

PJ trip for Loon and Daren’s wedding

We drove to PJ on 10 March 2012 for the wedding of Daren and Khoy Loon (YowCH’s youngest sister) on 11 March.
