2 new terrapins

We bought 2 more terrapins from the neighbourhood shop at Hoy Fatt Road. Now we have 3.

The dark deep dirty green is the one from the first batch.

We also got the UV-B bulb, and we manually load the UV-A and UV-B bulbs into the lamp to alternate the different exposures.

Next we are looking at a larger tank for them.

Saturday activities

Grace went to work and YowCH brought the children to Ricardo to service the car.

After servicing the car, YowCH went to work (with the children), then lunch and groceries shopping. Upon reaching home, we prepared 12 Ramly burgers for this evening’s BBQ. Esther and David were of great help, and they even did the laundry.

After picking up Grace, we went to the Leongs’ place and met up with the Lims, and the Ngs for BBQ.

Thank God for good weather and great fellowship time.

One terrapin died

Sadly, the terrapin with the white spots on the shell died (the one floating upside down).

Perhaps this guy basked in the lights too much.

Baby 4 update, Joseph’s tooth extraction

Today went for a routine check-up for Baby 4 and a scan. Please go to the page for Baby 4 for the latest scans.

Joseph also had his first tooth extraction today with 2 fillings done at the same time at NUH Dental Clinic. He did not cry throughout the whole injection, extraction and drilling.

Dinner with friends, Grace’s birthday cake

We had dinner with the Lims, Leongs and Ngs at some Bukit Panjang back-street seafood restaurant Hup Choon at Upper Bukit Timah Road, looks very Malaysian. But we first dropped all the children at the Lims’ place first where they had pasta dinner followed by a movie and play time.

Our menu included salt-baked crab, curry fish head, egg-steamed crab and herbal chicken among others.

When we returned to the Lims’ place, we got a surprise party for Grace’s birthday (yesterday). Very nice cake.

Fun with Ngs and Leongs

Today is Grace’s birthday, we spent the day playing with the Ngs and Leongs.

Firstly, cycling (and gliding for the younger ones) and rounders.

Then, Mega Pizza for lunch.

After lunch, Esther went to school for National Day Parade rehearsal (as audience). The rest played football and chased bubbles.

Trip to zoo on Youth Day Holiday

Today is a holiday for schools as yesterday was Youth Day. Grace took the children to the zoo while YowCH went to work.

Weekend: terrapin light, crepes, soccer, Ngs visit

Firstly, we got a rather necessary UV-A light for the terrapins, $50.00 for $3.00 animals:

To make it complete, we need UV-B, too, and we are still looking. Not exactly low maintenance pets.

On Saturday, we had crepes at Out-of-the-Pan at Raffles City. We remembered having crepes with Esther when she was an infant, and went there for a very late 3:00pm lunch.

Back to soccer training on Sunday afternoons after the school holidays break which was also affected by the haze. David is wearing his new boots bought in PJ.

Nate joined us, too.

Joseph was ok during training, but went ‘tired’ during the last 30 minutes of friendly match.

YowCH was wearing his new boots, too, from PJ cheap sale.

In the evening, the Ngs came over and we had pizza (thanks, Alison) and watched Astro-Boy.

Goodyear F1A2 update – wet drive

The rains returned to Singapore, and our new tyres (Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2) clings very well to the wet road. Feels good and safe.

Our first pets – 2 red-ear sliders or terrapins (turtles)

The children wanted pets, and the lowest maintenance for HDB living would be the common turtles, ie red-ear sliders or terrapins from USA.

We dug out the concrete flower pot (with low walls) from IKEA, bought while we were at Redhill Close, then washed it really clean. With the walls rather low, we took some old plastic baskets from YowCH’s mum’s place and cut them up to size to form a higher fence.

Today, last day of the school holidays, we bought 2 terrapins at $3.00 each.

Here are the terrapins in their new home:
