Manual juicer and Esther’s wins in school

We bought a manual slow juicer. It works, but the user works very hard, too to grind the fruits. Particularly hard fruits like apples. But it is slow, in order to squeeze the juice out. From Brand name is GDL, Gao Dalai.

But it works nicely.

Esther got second place at her school Scrabble competition and got a $10 Popular Bookstore voucher. She also won the school Instagram for food photography, she submitted 6 entries, and there were total of 42 entries.

Weekend update

Our church cell group, eCG, had our lo-hei at the Leongs’ place on Friday night.

Esther and Grace made some really nice cupcakes and shared them.

On Saturday, at about lunch time, YowCH’s parents arrived with Loon, Daren and Yen Li. We had lunch at Goldhill Chicken Rice.

Then the Tans went to visit relatives, and the Yows had dinner at Great World City’s Crystal Jade. With the CNY crowd, the adults were seated away from the children, at two distant tables.

After dinner, we sent parents to Bishan.

On Sunday, we spent some time at home in the morning, and we took some photos of Samuel happily walking about. Here’s Samuel taking a fun-stroll outside home.

As usual, we went for our swim before lunch. The boys then went to the Community Football League friendly matches at Rainforest, Turf City.

David was rather tired after the swim, but he played very well.

Joseph was not very focused and didn’t play too well, but he tried.

For dinner, the whole family (parents, us, Yongs and Tans) met at Star Vista and had seafood at Boston Seafood Shack.

This morning (Monday) is the start of David’s 3-day camp with his school. Here’s David with his camping bag fully packed.

The Tans and parents returned to PJ after breakfast.

Next step in fighting bedbugs

With the double sided tape working well, we continue to fight the bedbugs with natural non-toxic repellents.

With change of repellents, the resistance build-up will hopefully be less.

Swim time

We have no swimming lessons (nor football training and ballet class). But we still went out for a swim to burn off the multiple eating sessions over Chinese New Year.

YowCH, Grace, Esther, David and Joseph did laps first, while taking turns looking after Samuel, then we all had some time to play in the pool. Samuel is starting to enjoy the pool time.

CNY food!

Thursday, first day of CNY, we had lunch at Cedele, Great World City. YowCH had traditional vegetarian meal, and Esther followed suit. The rest ate normally.

After lunch, we shopped a little, then went to Moh Guan for dinner, and that was after our little outing to Labrador Park.

Friday, second day, we went to the zoo from morning to afternoon. Then we visited the Lims for a nice home hot-plate dinner.

On Saturday, we invited YowCH’s colleague Andrew and his family to our place for hotpot and hotplate lunch.

Then we went to church, and after service, we had dinner at “Different Taste” with the Tans and the Ngs.

Esther was leading the juniors table, and David gave thanks for the food.

Trip to the zoo on second day of CNY

We spent the second day of Chinese New Year at the zoo, with some Groupon tickets that Grace bought. Click on the photos to get to the page.

Happy New Year! from Singapore, Labrador Park

The Yows wish all friends and family members a Happy New Year of the goat/sheep.

Here are the children with their Angpows:

And here are the two old tigers at the start of the year of the goat/sheep:

With Grace’s parents and sister:

In the later afternoon, we went to Labrador Park with Gene. Esther went running with Gene, while David and Joseph went about on in-line skates. Grace played with Samuel at the playground, and YowCH had some time playing the guitar.

The see-saw can easily be balanced by the 4 children.

Here are two nice photos of Samuel.

Reunion dinner in Singapore

We did not travel back to PJ this Chinese New Year, so we had reunion dinner with Grace’s parents and Gene. Mum and dad prepared lots of great food for the steamboat and hot-plate dinner.

We had the Lo Hei with abalone slices as the starter.

The dinner proper was really nice, as we cooked and ate together.

Finally, YowCH and Grace were left to finish off.

Joseph had some fun with the pomelo skin that dad had nicely cut:

Happy New Year!

Samuel’s new car seat, bedbugs update

Samuel upgraded to the forward facing car seat today. He is very happy with it. With this car seat, he can look forward and has a better view out of the window.

Our fight against the bedbugs is doing well, the larger bugs may get through the sticky double-sided tape around our mattresses, but once they feed (filled with blood), they get stuck, and we nail them in the morning. The young bugs have no chance of crossing the tapes.

With the young not feeding and can’t grow, and the adults being trapped, we reckon that the bugs will be gone soon. We are still using the ‘natural’ repellent-spray to further fight against the bugs.

New coffee machine

Grace bought the smallest (and cheapest) Nespresso machine today, the Inissia, fresh Western-style office from now on!

The set has a milk froth maker, Aeroccino3, too, for cappuccino.
