Movie night, Joseph in Junior camp, Samuel’s injury during swim

YowCH’s old classmate and business friend invited the family to a movie screening at Kallang on Friday, 17 Nov. We watched Justice League.

After the movie, we realised that the parking is coupon parking (non-gantry) but we received a warning instead of a fine for first time offence in 8.5 years of driving. There is grace in Singapore, too.

On Saturday, Joseph went to church for Junior Camp. This is the day camp for all P1 to P5 (the P4-P5 had leadership training the weekend before in the 2 nights stay-over camp).

Joseph then stayed over in Sorrento and continued the camp on Sunday. we joined him for the camp ending dinner on Sunday night.

We had dinner with the campers, nice home cooked food.

There were performances by the juniors groups, and Joseph’s group did the story of Gideon and his army against the Midianites. Joseph was playing Gideon.

Prize giving! Joseph was selected as the Most Sporty Camper. But his group was one of the 3 groups with consolation prize (out of 6 groups).

Samuel jumped into the pool during swim class today, and hit his chin on the wall. A rather bad cut, but not too serious.

David’s award from GESPS

On Friday, 17 Nov 2017, David received an Exceller’s Award from Gan Eng Seng Primary School for being admitted to Gan Eng Seng Secondary School’s Express Stream.

The award comes with $100 Popular Bookshop vouchers. There were ten recipients.

YowCH’s health check

YowCH went for a health check on 24 Oct with health screening and treadmill.

He got the results on 16 Nov and thank God his results shows that everything is in good order except for slightly high cholesterol and suggestion to reduce alcohol. Exercises to e 30 mins long 3 times weekly.

Church Junior Camp

YowCH, Esther and David served in the Church Junior Camp from 10 to 12 Nov 2017.

Samuel trying out in-line skates

We started Samuel on in-line skates. He is brave and able to manage on the skates, but needs lots more training to go about on his own. David is a good trainer.

Joseph is able to dribble the basketball and shoot while on skates!

Nike shop had a 30% sale, so Grace and YowCH got new shoes. Now the whole family has Nike running shoes.

Also bought for David (running shoes), Joseph (soccer boots) and Samuel (walking shoes).

Samuel’s 4th birthday

YowCH bought 2 small cheese cakes to celebrate Samuel’s birthday the night before:

Samuel also packed his gifts for his friends:

On 26 Oct, we all went to Samuel’s school to celebrate his birthday with his classmates.

Samuel wanted a cake with Robo Car Poli picture.

The class sang Happy birthday in English, Mandarin and Malay.

The gifts were delivered to all his classmates.

At home, Samuel got Lego Ninjago as his birthday present, with a key-chain LED torch light.

Korean Army Hotpot, YowCH’s office blinds and health check

We did our own Korean Army Hotpot, using fuyu as the soup base. Pretty good stuff!

An update on YowCH’s office, the blinds were finally added, and it really provided great help against the morning sun.

YowCH also arranged for a TV to be placed at the meeting area between Fen Leong and him, useful for discussions.

YowCH went to Raffles Hospital for a full health check, with treadmill added. Results will be known a few weeks later, but the prelim readings looks normal.

Perhaps some bitter gourd juice to help with rising blood pressure.

Samuel first time away from parents

Samuel’s childcare was closed half day on eve of Deepavali on Tuesday. So we sent him to the grandparents for overnight stays on Monday and Tuesday. This is the first time Samuel is staying away from his parents.

Weekend updates

We visited the Jurong Eco Garden on Saturday morning. Click here or on the photos below to go to the dedicated page:

After the Garden, we dropped Esther at Church and went for lunch at the nearby Formosa Delights, before visiting parents and Gene.

For dinner, we went to West Coast market area for curry fish-head and other Chinese dishes.

On Sunday, we had our usual swim, and then lunch at McD.

In the afternoon, David played friendly game against ACS Barker Road, wile Joseph had regular training with those under-10.

After football, David and Joseph joined some of their friends in the neighbourhood for a game of basketball.

Food and drinks

Just a small update of our home-cooked food:

And a nice cold drink of vodka-lychee, chilled with -5°C stainless steel ‘whiskey stones”.
