YowCH and Grace attended the event, the fourth and last one for us. Learning Vision also leaves KKH next year, with the childcare operations taken over by another operator. Our family had a long 17 year plus with Learning Vision.

Church Junior Camp, Samuel’s Swim Safer Stage 3, MCBPC-TBC,S football

This year’s Junior Camp, from Saturday 16 Nov to Sunday 17 Nov, was Joseph’s last and Samuel’s first.

On the first day, they made lava lamps.

They brought containers and utensils for their meals. Good food prepared by Mrs. Loo.

The performances on Sunday night, after dinner with family and a parenting talk for the parents.

On Sunday afternoon, YowCH and Grace took Samuel out of camp for 2 hours to attend his Swim Safer Stage 3 exam. He skipped Stages 1 and 2. YowCH had to read to him the multiple choices questions as he could not read. He had to swim breast stroke, survival back, wear a life vest in water, swim survival back with life vest, tread water for 30 seconds and dive 1.5m to retrieve an object. He did all that fastest and smoothest, although he was the youngest and smallest guy in the batch of students taking the test.

UPDATED 25 Nov 2019: He got his cert!

The same evening, David played football for our church, The Bible Church, Singapore, in the regular friendly match against Mount Carmel Bible Presbyterian Church. Esther took the photos.

Samuel visits GESPS, KTP 50th anniversary dinner

On Friday, 15 Sep 2019, Gan Eng Seng Primary School had orientation for the incoming Primary 1 student. Grace took leave and brought Joseph and Samuel to the event.

We bought uniform for Samuel. This is a new design, not for tucking in.

That evening, YowCH attended KTP’s 50th Anniversary Dinner at Grand Shanghai Restaurant. The theme was Old Shanghai, and many colleagues dressed to the theme.

Boys in-line skating, tea set

Samuel really enjoys in-line skating now. He wears Joseph’s skates, Joseph wears David’s and David wear YowCH’s.

We picked up a beautiful and undamaged tea set from the dump under our house. Things people throw away…

Soccer in new uniform, Esther at piano, YowCH runs, Grace swims

Our new West Coast Wolves uniform:

We had soccer training in our new red West Coast Wolves uniform. David helps out with coaching.

That’s Joseph in training.

And that’s Samuel. Nowadays, YowCH trains the youngest age group.

Here’s a photo of Esther at her piano class.

And here’s YowCH in his running garb. He now runs 2.5km once on a weekday after work and 5.0km on Saturday morning.

And here is Grace lying in the pool.

Samuel learning to cycle and skate

Today is the Monday holiday after Deepavali. We spent some time training Samuel on cycling and skating.

YowCH and Joseph trained him on the bike, he can go short distances while pedaling and balancing now.

Samuel will probably cycle well after a few more sessions. David and Joseph were also playing basketball.

We also brought out the in-line skates and let him try again. After a few falls, he can get up on his own and move slowly while maintaining balance.

Esther, Joseph and YowCH also rolled about a little.

David prepared breakfast.

More Samuel birthday photos, Joseph’s iPhone7

Another round of dinner for Samuel, this time with the Yongs, who treated us to Lao Beijing.

We had popiah, of course!

Here are the presents Samuel received, a chicken game from Grace, a 3-D maze puzzle from the Yongs, colour pens and waist pouch from YowCH.

Joseph’s iPhoneSE (which was David’s previous phone) was in use since he had his own phone line about 1 year ago. The screen had a big black spot and numerous white-out lines, and not very legible, but Joseph wasn’t complaining. We asked around for a secondhand phone, and Gene gave him her old iPhone7.

Samuel is 6 years old

Samuel celebrated his 6th birthday in school one day ahead on Friday, 25 Oct. YowCH, Grace and Joseph joined him in Alfa Centre at about 3:30pm.

He asked for a mango cake, with lots of mango. Most of his classmates were around.

A nice happy face during the fun celebration.

The cake was good!

He then distributed the Paw Patrol bags that was made by Grace, which Samuel helped in putting the ropes in.

Here is a photo of Samuel at home just as we stepped into 26 Oct 2019:

On the actual day, we had lunch at Carrara, a cafe near our home.

Another round of celebrations in church, together with his classmate Jonathan.

And then, dinner with grandparents and Gene (while Esther and David were attending a meeting in church).

Samuel preparing his birthday giveaways – bags

Grace made draw-string bags for Samuel to be his birthday giveaways to classmates. They got Paw Patrol cloth to make the bags, and Samuel helped flip the bags inside-out and also thread the ropes.
