120809 to 11 TYLin family day in Malacca
TYLin Staff Club organised family day as a trip to Malacca, over the Singapore National Day holiday (Thursday to Saturday).
Several drivers met at Gelang Patah at 6:15am and drove off as a convoy. Yongs, Lims, Yows, Moks, Ngs, Liews and Chens. A very pleasant drive at 125km/h max and the air was 22°C from 6:15am until about 8:45am when we reached Ayer Keroh, so we drove with the windows down all the way, Yows taking the lead.
We linked up with Eng Hong at the entrance of Melaka Zoo and went for dim sum breakfast.
Then we went to Aeon for shopping.
After shopping, we parked at the hotel and walked out to eat Bak Kut Teh for lunch.
Hatten Hotel is rather new. We checked into room 1845 at about 4:00pm.
Then while Grace and the children rested, YowCH went out with some colleagues to eat Japanese cake at Mahkota Parade across the street.
At 6:30pm, we had the TYLin dinner in the hotel ballroom. The peranakan food was rather good.
After dinner, we settled down, and YowCH drove out with some colleagues for supper of satay celup.
The next day, we took the bus for the city tour. There were total of 5 buses.
Here are photos from the historic district – red square.
This family photo is taken by Kuan Pow.
Can you see Joseph in the next photo?
The one thing we must do at A Famosa – ride the cannons.
After the historic district, we went to the temple for Admiral Cheng Ho and the Hang Li Po well.
Then we visited Jonker Walk (Jalan Hang Jebat) and Harmony Street.
As the heat was very high, and we were rather hungry, Grace felt faint, and we rested for a while before lunch at Famosa Chicken Rice Balls.
It was really fun for the children to take the Trishaw back to the hotel, and saved us some walking.
After resting, we joined the buses again for dinner at the Portuguese Settlement food court.
There is a nice jetty there.
We shared our dinner with colleagues from China, and introduced strange food to them – like young mango juice, baked fish, otak-otak, bamboo clams, la-la and other local-Portuguese dishes.
After dinner, we returned to the hotel and slept early.
On the last day, we went for swim in the hotel pool after breakfast.
Then we packed and checked-out. At 12 noon, we took some group photos and the buses left.
We drove with Lims, Yongs, Chens, Jean and Mr Koay to Aeon, for lunch at Tang Shi Fu.
After lunch, we drove back to Singapore very quickly and sent Grace to KK hospital for check-up for baby 4 due to bleeding which started on 10 Aug.
Overall, we thank God for a fun 3 days in Malacca for family and friends, good weather, good drives and good fellowship.
