YowCH & Grace

We had a good holiday in Perth from 10 to 15 September 2007. This is the first real overseas holiday for us ever since our honeymoon in Dec 2000.

Day 1 – 10 Sep 2007

06:30 Gene, mum and dad picked us from home to Terminal 1.
07:05 Checked in, breakfast with Gene, mum and dad.
08:30 Boarded Qantas QF72, Airbus A330. Flight only 1/2 full. Took off at 09:15.

14:00 Landed at Perth, picked up by Valentino Tours’ Mr Beng.
15:00 Checked in to Comfort Hotel Room 504.
16:00 Took bus to Barrack St. for shopping and walking, then realised at 18:30 that we missed last bus of 17:55, so, at 19:00 we took taxi back to Comfort Hotel.

19:10 Dinner at ‘K on Hay’ cafe and bar.
20:45 Slept.

Day 2 – 11 Sep 2007

05:15 Woke up, brushed-up, TV, milk, then early breakfast at K at 06:30.
06:45 Waited for Rockingham Dolphin Tour but no sign of the pick-up, so called them at 07:15. Oops, the pick-up is at 07:30 not 06:30. Finally, the bus arrived at 07:45.

08:45 On boat for dolphins encounter and returned by 10:40.

10:55 Jetty to Penguin Island.

11:10 Boat ride to see sealions, terns, gulls, cormorants and pelicans. Back to Penguin Island, sandwich picnic, penguin show, walk round island.
13:45 Boat back to mainland, left at 14:05.

14:50 Back to Perth, dropped off at Hay St./King St.

15:20 Lunched at Dome.
16:00 Left Dome, rained. Took bus to Bennett St, then walked in the rain back to Comfort Hotel, reached at 16:45. Showered, rested, reviewed photos.
19:00 Walked out nearby for Turkish canteen Newroz Kebabs at Carlton Centre, ate kebabs and nachos from 19:15 to 20:05.
20:05 Strolled along Hay St.
20:40 Returned to Comfort Hotel, prep for sleep, reviewed video.
22:00 Slept.

Day 3 – 12 Sep 2007

07:15 Woke up, and breakfast at 08:15.
09:00 Mr Beng picked us up for Monger Lake for black swan, then King’s Park, but drizzling most of the time, then en-route Fremantle, Mosman Park (up-town housing estate).

11:15 Reached Fremantle. Shopping, walking, bought boomerangs and hats for the children and visited Round House amidst a storm.

13:30 Lunched at Kailis’ with Beng.
14:30 Visited Maritime Shipwreck Museum.
15:15 Drove by Cottesloe beach, very strong winds and waves, until 15:30.
16:15 Back in Perth, YowCH and Grace visited outside of Swan Bells while children were sleeping in car.
16:45 Back in Comfort Hotel.
17:05 Walked to park next to Swan River, children ran around the very large green field.
17:50 Dinner at Mai’s Vietnamese Cuisine on Bennett St. Tasted terrible.
18:50 Back in Comfort Hotel. Children watch Monster Inc. video, adults packed to check out for Bindoon farm stay on the next day. Reviewed video and photos.
22:00 Slept.

Day 4 – 13 Sep 2007

07:15 Woke up for 08:30 breakfast
09:15 Check out of Comfort Hotel and walked to Perth Mint, our worth in gold was YowCH for $1.7M, Grace for $1.25M, Esther for $0.45M and David for $0.42M.
10:30 Returned to Comfort Hotel. Mr Beng picked us up and set out for Bindoon at 10:45 along Great Eastern HWY, Tonkin HWY, Reid HWY, Great Northern HWY to reach Bindoon.
12:00 Lunch at Windwill Farm with owners/hosts Milton and Joan Clark. The lamb was FANTASTIC.
13:00 Fed kangaroos and lamb, then at 13:15 Went for horse ride at Lee’s farm.

14:00 Visited Bruce’s orchard with oranges, mandarins, apricots, grapes, nectarines, peaches.

15:00 Returned to Windmill Farm followed by a tractor ride up the hill.

16:30 Fed cows, pony, bull, chickens, ducks and geese Then milked the cow.

17:30 Activities ended, YowCH and David walked towards hill, Esther was ‘attacked’ by kangaroo Huff-Puff. Later on, YowCH and Esther walked Kay Road.
19:00 Dinner with Milton and Joan in their home. Actual dinner start at 19:30, ended with ice-cream.
20:30 Joan demonstrated wool-spinning by hand, and we tried our hands at it, too.
21:45 Slept.

Day 5 – 14 Sep 2007

06:30 Woke up.
07:00 Stroll in the farm, then fed sheep, cows, pony and kangaroos.

08.00 Great English style breakfast.
09:00 Strolled along Kay Road.

09:45 Picked up by Mr Beng and bought strawberries at road side stall.
10:35 Reached Oggie’s ice-cream factory, but not open.
10:50 Visited Caversham Wildlife Park until 12:15. We saw local animals including kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, Tasmanian devils and koalas.

12:30 Visited Margaret River Chocolate Company until 12:50.

13:00 Visited Pinelli Wine @ Benara Road until 13:20. We bought one bottle of red and one of white.
13:45 Had fast-food Lunch at Red Rooster with Mr Beng until 14:25.
14:45 Back to Comfort Hotel, checked into room 404.
15:05 Children napped while adults packed for return.
17:00 Took bus to Swan Bells (outside only), then shopping.

19:05 Had dinner at Pancakes at Carillon, Carillon City until 20:15.
20:20 Visited London Court, then at 21:00 took taxi back to Comfort Hotel.

21:30 Children drank milk, review photos and video.
22:30 Slept.

Day 6 – 15 Sep 2007

07:00 Woke up.
07:30 Check out, keep our things in luggage room.
07:45 Breakfast at ‘K on Hay’.
08:30 Walked to Swan River bank, then took bus 37 to visit King’s Park Botanic Garden again, where we had hot beef pie and coffee as a snack.

11:30 Took bus 39 back to city.
11:50 Lunched at MacDonald’s, Barrack St. then took bus back to Comfort Hotel.
12:55 Final packing and pick up by Velentino Tours’ Mr Peter to airport at 13:10.
13:30 Checked in, we had to check in wine, then at 14:00 bought a bag because we had to check in jam, too.
15:15 Boarded Qantas QF71, Airbus A330. Flight a little more than 1/2 full. Took off for Singapore at 16:00.
21:00 Landed in Singapore.
22:30 Reached home.

Thank God for this wonderful trip, the whole family had a really enjoyable and relaxing time in Perth.
