120602 to 11 Church Camp 2012, Putrajaya and PJ

We drove up to PJ on 2 June 2012 for Church Camp. Our luggage was rather substantial for the 10-day long trip, but we needed to plan for YowCH’s parent’s ride back to Singapore with us.

As usual, we drove off on Saturday 5:30am and reached PJ home at 9:00am. YowCH then washed Joseph’s seat thoroughly since there is space and hot sun to dry.

We then had lots of good food and shopping prior to Church Camp.

This is the carpark at PJ Old Town area at 2:30pm after our lunch on Sunday, the only car on the entire floor, and one of 4 cars in the entire multi-storey carpark. However, the roadside parking spaces were all taken and double-parked, it seems Malaysians just can’t afford to pay the RM5 parking…

Then we celebrated Esther’s 10th birthday a little earlier on 3 June 2012 before we left for camp:

We then went out shopping with the Loos and had dinner at Pu Tien, One Utama.

David and Joseph enjoyed their new light-sabres, off-season now, so very good value.

On 4 June 2012, Monday, we drove off to Putrajaya after visiting JPJ (the Road Transport Department) to renew Grace’s and YowCH’s licenses, and to get Grace’s driving records for Singapore license. We then had lunch at home and picked up 7 cakes ordered through Chee Kean and reached Pullman Hotel at about 1:30pm.

The Pullman rooms were not very spacious, not fully carpetted and not fantastic. Wifi was super weak and the wall internet socket in our room (2323) was spoilt!

We had some lychee, nangka and durians when we arrived. YowCH showed the children how to toss-and-catch durians.

Camp speaker was Rev Edmund Chan, well respected and certainly delivered God’s message to us very effectively.

This is our room office:

On the first night, we saw fireworks from our room, what a bonus.

We brought along cup noodles for supper:

There were fun activities, too, especially in the pool.

YowCH took the camp photos:

On 6 June, there was a period for shopping at Mid-valley Megamall, but we did not go, instead, we celebrated Esther’s birthday at the nearby Alamanda Shopping Centre with Hannah, eating at Oldtown White Coffee.

We met Kum Yuen on Thursday evening when he dropped by Pullman.

The children performed on Thursday night:

Finally, the great camp ended on 8 June and we took a family photo in the room before we left:

We left camp at 1:30pm, and had lunch at Alamanda Oldtown White Coffee again, then reached home at about 4:00pm. That night, we had durian supper at SS2 with CCK, MM, Loon and Daren.

On Saturday we visited Sunway Shopping Centre, then met the Loos for dinner at the rather new Citta Mall.

On Sunday, we had rojak and chendol with CCK and MM, then bought a Malaysian pre-paid line for YowCH for use in Malaysia.

That evening, we spent with YowCH’s uncle in Kepong.

Again we went out for supper with CCK:

On Monday, 11 June, YowCH went out with parents early in the morning to settle some banking stuff, then we returned home, packed and drove off at 10:30am. We had our first stop at Ayer Keroh for lunch at 11:45am.

The next stop was at Gelang Patah at 2:15pm.

The customs were relatively empty and we reached home at 3:30pm, after a short detour trip on the NUS bridge.

We thank God for the good holiday with family and friends, the very relevant and refreshing church camp, the good weather (although rather hot), the nice drives to PJ and back (although we did make a large loop in Putrajaya close to 30km due to missing highway exits), and Quincy who helped look after our home when we were not around.
