090529 First drive to PJ

This is our first drive up from Singapore to PJ, in our new Isis. We started the trip with 1900km on the odometer and ended with 2930km (that’s 1030km). This trip is meant for Harris and Peck Sun’s wedding in PJ, and we took the opportunity to spend time with YowCH’s family. Esther then joined Grace’s parents and sister, Gene, for their church camp in Port Dickson.

The stuff be packed, including the pram, and also a microwave oven for YowCH’s parents. But the microwave was carried in Gene’s car.

We left home at about 2:30pm with Grace’s dad taking the lead. David and Esther in the back row, where they had in-car movies from our portable Sony DVD player.

Joseph sits with Grace in the middle row.

A break a Machap. Between the two cars, we communicated using our walkie-talkies, which was very fun and effective. After a toilet break at the USJ exit, we reached PJ home at 9:30pm. Gene drove her Altis, taking over over from dad from JB.

Saturday 30 May 2009 morning, that’s us seated in First Baptist Church, Jalan Gasing, waiting for the wedding to start.

And the newly wedded couple, Harris and Peck Sun.

Dad helped us take the first photo of the five of us:

That’s Joseph rolling around in PJ, and he weights about 7kgs now.

Monday morning, we started on our way back to Singapore at 9:15am. Here, we had a break at Ayer Keroh. One bag less and one passenger less, as Esther is with Grace’s parents and Gene in Port Dickson for church camp.

After Ayer Keroh we had two more breaks, at Machap and here the final stop of Tanjung Kupang prior to filling up at Shell and crossing the border.

This is a photo taken by Grace, David was most helpful in unloading the car after the trip. We reached home at 3:30pm.

It was a good trip, and very fun (but tiring) to drive along the North-South highway. We maintained about 110km/h on our way back on Friday afternoon and about 125km/h on the return trip on Monday morning. Max speed (just to test the car, over 10 seconds) we reached was 155km/h.
