090103 Hiking at Macritchie

YowCH took Esther, David, Isaiah and Nate for a 5km walk at Macritchie on a Saturday morning. Thank God for the good weather. The walk started at 9:15am and endned at 11:45am. Alison drove the team to and fro Macritchie.

The children walked all the way, and behaved very well. They saw birds, worms, insects, fishes, turtles and monkeys!

There are 38 photos here!

The first mile-stone (actually it is 1.5km), they have already walked about 0.5km to get here from the carpark.

A short break for water and sweets.

This muddy and wet patch was where David got stuck in the mud last year.

The 3km point is where we turned around and continued on the boardwalk. But before that, we enjoyed the lake and had some food.

A hiking stick for each hiker.

Often the sticks got caught between the planks of the boardwalk.

Nate and David discussing the local plants and animals over NParks’ info-boards.

Another snack break.

There’s a turtle in the water!

Being older and stronger, Esther and Isaiah were often far ahead of the two other boys.

Back at the starting point that’s 4.5km completed. Another 0.5km to the carpark to complete the walk.

Heading back to the carpark after patching up David’s knee (he had a fall and scratched his knee).

Sorry for the crooked last photo.

Let’s do a longer trip with more children the next time round! Maybe to the suspension bridge or the Jelutong Tower. Perhaps we pack some Starbucks coffee for Quincy if he joins us.
