Day 3: 3 Dec 2019

We bought breakfast from another convenient store, GS25.

We were then picked up by another driver Mr Shin, as Mr Ahn had to attend to his friend’s father’s funeral. First stop, the Mysterious Road, which looks like it is going downhill, but is actually uphill. The car rolls back when free-gear.

We reached the Hallasan Park – Eoseungsaengak Trail Visitor Centre at 9:35am. This is Hallasan viewed from the Visitor Centre carpark. Hallasan is the highest peak in South Korea, at 1,950m. We started with having some snowball fun.

At 9:55am, we started hiking up to the viewing point.

Halfway up, as the trees thinned off, it started snowing and a fog came in.

We reached elevation of 1,169m, the viewing point at 10:30am, but there was almost nothing to view due to the fog.

At about 10:45am, we started our way down to the carpark.

Near the carpark, the temperature was about 2°C.

Next stop, we visited the 1100 Highland Ecological Swamp, highest road in Korea. We reached at 11:45am and spent about 30 mins hiking the trail.

On the way South to Jungmun, we stop-over at a viewing point.

We had seafood lunch in Jungmun at a tourist restaurant at 1:00pm, where the octopus was cooked alive!

After lunch, we visited Cheonjeyeon Falls at 2:30pm.

There are 3 tiers of falls, but the first tier is dry unless it is raining upstream.

YowCH taught Esther and Joseph the method to take ‘dreamy’ photos of waterfalls and rapids. This photo is by Esther:

After the falls, we visited the coastal volcanic rock formations at Jusangjeollidae at 4:00pm.

We also witness very nice sun rays piercing through the clouds.

Lat stop of the day, Yakcheongsa, an ancient temple by the sea. We were here from 4:35pm to 5:00pm.

Samuel was enjoying taking photo, and said “the further you go, the more you get”.

The drive from Yakcheongsa to Jeju city took about 1 hour. After stretching out in the hotel for about 1 hour, we went out for shopping and dinner at 7:00pm.

This is Hallasan soju, taste clearer (like real mineral water) but stronger alcohol (17° or 21°). Nice!

Back in the hotel, Esther, Joseph and Grace had facial masks.

Day 4: 4 Dec 2019
YowCH woke early in the morning and went for a 2.5km run. The air was dry and cold, about 10°C according to the mobile phone weather info.

After running, while the rest woke, YowCH worked.

As we woke earlier, we walked to a local 24hr restaurant and had soupy breakfast.

Mr Ahn picked us up at 9:00am and brought us to the South again.

We reached Jeongbang Falls at 10:00am.

Esther caught the nice rainbow at the falls.

We also saw a double rainbow.

Next, a short stop of 30 mins at Soesokkak Estuary, we reached at 11:15am and left at 11:45am.

At 12:00pm, we reached Cheonjiyeon Falls.

The red maple leaves are very pretty.

It is always good to eat ice-cream in winter.

Mr Ahn brought us to a Chinese restaurant at Jungmun for lunch at 1:30pm. We had jajangmyeon.

After lunch, we visited Yongmeori beach at 3:00pm.

The rock formations beaten by the sea is very beautiful.

Samuel and Joseph had a swell time climbing up the walls.

At about this time, YowCH’s boots opened up and had to spend some time repairing.

We reached the exit at 4:00pm and drove off at about 4:20pm.

At 4.45pm, we reached Osulloc Tea Museum, our last stop of the day.

We drank some tea.

We had some snacks.

And bought some cosmetics.

Mr Ahn then dropped us at Dungmun Market for shopping, reaching at 7:05pm.

We then took two cabs back to the hotel. We bought lots of goodies to bring back to Singapore.

We then had dinner at a restaurant near the hotel at 9:30pm..
