190607 to 10 Trip to PJ

We had a short trip home to PJ from 7 to 10 June 2019 to visit YowCH’s parents, family and friends.

We started driving on Friday 7 June at 4:15am and got stuck after Singapore checkpoint for about 10 minutes as traffic was stopped for works on the lanes to prepare for the morning peak traffic.

Other than the slight delay at Singapore checkpoint, the drive was smooth and fast, clocking up to 180km/h at same straight sections. As we reached PJ, the petrol was extremely low, with only about 10km to go, we refilled at Kelana Jaya just as we existed the highway.

We reached PJ home at 8:00am and had simple breakfast at home.

After a short rest, we drove mom and dad to the public clinic at Kelana Jaya and then went o Giant for shopping. After shopping, we had lunch at Sushi King. It was bad.

After lunch, we went home and napped for a short while. then we drove out to One Utama with Esther and David (Joseph and Samuel stayed at home) for shopping. We had some yam-cake and petai for snacks at Oriental Cravings.

We left One Utama at 6:45pm and reached home at 6:55pm (no traffic although working day because Hari Raya holidays on Wed and Thu). We had dinner at home (including the petai that we ordered and brought back from Oriental Cravings).

After dinner, we went to SS2 at 9:50pm to pick Chee Kean for dinner with the Tans.

We ordered 7 durians at $25 per kg, and paid almost RM300. Cheap and tasty! But David doesn’t eat durians, so he went to the coffee shop and bought grilled stingray.

We packed some good stuff for YowCH’s parents.

We finished durian supper at about 11:20pm and slept at about 11:45pm.

On the morning of 8 June, Saturday, Yowch woke early and went for a run, doing 2.5km in 13m35s.

After the run, we had breakfast at home.

Joseph brought he laptop and did his homework.

We had great fun playing mahjong.

Soju at Giant is cheap, Chamisul is RM22 and Grapefruit is RM18. In Singapore, each is about S$16.

For lunch, we went to Seo Gung Korean BBQ restaurant. Nice.

After lunch, we sent the children and parent home. The Tans took the children to their place as Grace and YowCH went to Paradigm Mall for shopping and massage. After a relaxing time, we went over to the Tans’ place. Then we picked parents and went to Subang for Bak Kut Teh dinner at 7:20pm.

After dinner, we visited the Chans.

And we ended the day with supper at SS2 Kayu. Roti tisu is a must!

We reached home at 11:00pm and slept shortly after.

On Sunday 9 June, we woke later at about 10.00am. We had breakfast at home.

Then the children helped clean the fans.

YowCH took the time to clean the car, with Grace helping.

In the meantime, mahjong!

We went to Jaya for lunch at Oriental Pavilion.

We had dimsum and thick-Hokkien noodles. Very nice.

After lunch, we had chendol for snacks and played more mahjong.

It was even better when YowCH’s cousin’s family visited at about 5:00pm.

Samuel and Lili had lots of time to play together.

Esther and Joseph did homework on their laptops.

We had dinner at home, prepared by YowCH’s mom, with rojak, tangyuan and petai added.

And after dinner, more mahjong.

Then the Chans visited and we had even more fun.

At 10:00pm, we went to SS2 Kayu for supper, the Yows, Tans, Loos and Chee Kean. The children were seated at one table and made their own orders!

They had one roti tisu, and it wasn’t enough, so they ordered a second one!

And they had Indomee goreng, too! The adults were more humble in our eating.

We finished supper at 11:00pm and slept at midnight.

On Monday, 10 June, we woke at 8:00am, and did the final packing. We loaded the car by 9:15am. After some family time, we tarted our drive back to Singapore at 10:30am.

The road had traffic but the speed was still good.

We reached Ayer Keroh overhead bridge for lunch at 12:05pm. However, the queue for A&W was long and we had to wait for the food for about 30 minutes.

6 Coney Dogs, 2 Root Beers, 2 Root Beer floats and some fries.

We continued on our way at 1:30pm.

We reached Gelang Patah at 5:20pm, where we refilled and topped-up the TnG card. We reached Malaysian checkpoint at 3:30pm and cleared in 3 minutes. Then we reached Singapore checkpoint at 3:35pm and queued for 30 minutes. We reached home at about 4:30pm. The family very quickly unloaded the car and unpacked. Then Grace then took a nap to prepare for her night shift work.

We thank God for a good time at home with family, shopping, good food, time with friends and smooth safe drives.
