190108 to 13 Cebu Mission Trip (Esther)
Esther took part in the Church mission trip to Cebu, Philippines, from 8 to 13 of Jan 2019. We sent her to the airport for the late night flight on 7 Jan 2019.
Tue, 08 Jan 2019
This was the vehicle that the team took to the church and the hotel at Lorega. They stayed in Palazzo Pensionne.
The team woke at 11:00am and went to the Zapatera Elementary School to teach the kindergarten children. The team did games, a Bible story skit (David and Goliath) and action songs.
At night, they went to the Spring of Hope Christian Fellowship Church for Bible study. After Bible study, they conducted music and IT workshops. Esther was in charge of teaching guitar.

Thu, 10 Jan 2019
The team visited Riverside and Carreta (which are slum homes built on a graveyard) to do visitation and pray for the family of the scholars that the Church is sponsoring. Bags of goodies were given out.

Basketball day. Pastor Davis has a basketball ministry to the youths. The Bible Church team was really quite bad.
At night, the usual music workshop, after a whole day of basketball.
Sat, 12 Jan 2019
They went to Lorega and served the children with songs, Bible verses, a skit (the Prodigal Son) and crafts.
The team also helped feed the children.
The team then went to Carreta to repeat the children’s program, including feeding. There were so many children that there wasn’t enough food, so the team gave them Oreos. The team also distributed clothes and bed sheets and the people were so desperate that they were practically snatching them.
The team then returned to SHCF Church and talked to the scholars to encourage them. Here’s a group photo with the scholars.

Before Sunday service started, the team members shared their thanksgiving items.
The locals gave a very nicely made poster to the team!
The team then had lunch with the worship team at a BBQ eatery, taking the chartered bus.

The team returned to Singapore safely on Sunday night.

We thank God for a good mission experience for Esther, and that she was helpful in service during this trip.
26 Jan 2019 – Celebration
The team had a post-trip meeting and dinner. It was informative and fun to listen to the experience. The food was mostly Jollibee, and contributions from the parents of the mission team.
The team bonded well.
They even performed the action song that they taught the children in Cebu.
