190202 to 05 Chinese New Year (PJ and Singapore)

We had a short trip to PJ from 2 Feb (Sat) until 4 Feb (Mon) as Grace was on standby duty on Monday night and had to be back in Singapore.

2 Feb 2019, Saturday:
We packed light and left home at 4:10am.

The checkpoints of Singapore and Malaysia were both handling very long queues. We joined the queue on the Singapore side at 4:25am and cleared at 5:55am.

We reached Malaysia checkpoint at 6:05am and cleared only at 8:25am (the normal time we reached PJ home!).

After the long queues at the checkpoints, the drive was quite smooth, with traffic flowing at reasonable speeds.

We had a toilet break at Kulai, a breakfast break at Pagoh and refueled at Seremban.

We reached home at 12:50pm, in time for lunch.

After lunch, we had some family time, and took short naps.

The children then helped YowCH’s mom prepare dinner.

Here’s the dinner spread:

A family photo (with the Loos joining us) before we started eating.

It was a fun time with lo-hei.

After dinner, we distributed the hongbaos.

Then we celebrated YowCH’s dad’s 74th birthday.

More family time, and over games, too.

At about 10:30pm, we went to SS2 Kayu for supper with Chee Kean, Ming Meng and Jeanne.

Two roti tisu for 20 people!

David and Joseph had double Indomee goreng, Esther had some of Jo’s noodles and sup kambing. YowCH had a Maggi goreng.

3 Feb 2019, Sunday:
We woke early and had breakfast at Jin Xuan Hong Kong Dim Sum.

After breakfast, we went to the Tans’ place and took our family photos.

That’s mom messing around.

The photos of the Yongs and Tans.

All fifteen of us:

The Yows:

Some games before we went to One Utama for shopping and lunch.

At One Utama, we shopped around (mostly for clothes) and Loon took parents home after their lunch. We ate at Kluang Station, as we like the keropok lekur.

We then went home with the Yongs (all 10 of us in the car), reaching home just before 5:00pm.

Dinner at home.

Then it was family time.

The Chans visited us later at night.

And we shared the Nadeje Cakes that the Yongs bought from One Utama (handmade mille crepe):

By 10:40pm, the Tans, Yongs and Chans left, and we packed for our return the next morning.

4 Feb 2019, Monday:
We woke up at 4:30am and loaded the car for an early drive. We left PJ at 5:05am. The Federal Highway, and the E2 was clear, smooth and fast all the way.

The beautiful sunrise!

We drove to Bukit Indah for toilet break followed by shopping at Tesco. We bought lots of stuff, mostly food.

After shopping, we went over to Mall of Medini for breakfast, at Old Town Coffee.

Here are the children in front of our condo.

After refueling at Gelang Patah, we encountered no queue at all at both Malaysia and Singapore checkpoints, and cleared both in 15 minutes!

We reached home at 12:05pm and unpacked. Then we rested and took a nap.

At 5:00pm, we went to Grace’s parents’ place for dinner. Gene was away for work, afternoon shift.

Grace’s parents prepared mala soup, plain soup and hot plate grill. We had another round of lo-hei.

5 Feb 2019, Tuesday:
We did some work at home in the morning, and went over to Sorrento at about 1:00pm for lunch.

After lunch, we took family photos:

It was a rather hot day, the boys played in the pool while the ladies had fellowship time in the house.

For dinner, we had pasta with steak, and some Chinese food. Gene was away on afternoon shift work again.

We thank God for all the good food and great family fellowship this Chinese New Year.
