110416 Hiking in Macritchie with eFG children
YowCH organised a hiking trip at Macritchie for the eFG children, this time round 10 children participated and 5 adults came along:
Children: Esther, Jie Ling, Han Wei, David, Nathaniel, Song Ling, Sarah, Chloe, Zhong Yi and Joseph.
Adults: YowCH, Grace, Oliver, Lionel and Hsiao Yen.
We met at the carpark at 9:00am and did the Lornie trail. Thank God the weather was very good and we managed to walk all the way in and out with lots with fun and little trouble.
From the map, we all walked the Red path (but Grace and Joseph was slower behind), then the Blue path (which Grace and Joseph did not join in) and left via the Pink path. All in, we covered about 5.0km while Grace and Joseph covered about 3.5km.
The usual pre-hike briefing and prayer by YowCH:
The first thing was to get up the slope to the reservoir.
Now, Joseph, the youngest at 2.5 years old, was also very much slower, so Grace took Joseph on a slower pace, but along the same route.
This is the Chemperai Hut, a good place for a snacks break, so YowCH called Grace to wait here when she arrives with Joseph while the older children walk further onwards.
Here, we stand at the farthest point from the start, turning round back via the boardwalk.
You can see Grace at the upper left corner awaiting our arrival at the Chemperai Hut.
We then had our sandwiches and drinks (water, Milo and Ribena).
Again, Joseph being slower, set off with Grace ahead of the main group. A minor slip and he fell face-down onto the ground.
There was a troop of monkeys along the boardwalk and one of the monkeys actually wanted to snatch Joseph’s Ribena!
We caught up with Grace and Joseph and took a photo on the bridge.
Towards the exit, we had some fun, especially when Grace suggested that the children climb the tree.
We reached the carpark at about noon time, just as Joseph’s legs turned into jelly (from tiredness) and a drizzle started. However, everyone was still in high spirits.
We then left just as the rain poured. Certainly God answered our prayers and stayed the weather for this enjoyable morning hike.
