110226 Hiking at Macritchie

Today YowCH took Esther, David and Joseph for a hike in Macritchie (Grace had to work this morning). This was Joseph’s first hike, so we took it really slow and short. As usual, we each carried our own backpack with our own gear and some shared common items (ie umbrella, first-aid kit). Joseph’s bag had his diapers and a change of clothes.

We parked at Venus Drive and walked to the real start of Macritchie Park, which was about 1.2km one way.

This photo was taken at the start, 8:30am.

You can see Esther and David helping Joseph up a difficult slope:

At 9:30am, we reached the break-point, also the turn-around point. We had snacks and rested for a while before setting off again at 10:00am.

The return trip was slower as Joseph’s boots seemed a little too tight, so YowCH took his socks off.

We found a big leaf and had some fun using it as an umbrella.

By 11:00am, we reached the starting point again. Our average speed was about 1.2km/h (very slow), but that was Joseph’s first hike. He was not carried and walked the whole way himself! Esther and David had to stop often to wait for Joseph.

We thank God for the weekend time, for good weather and giving us a great bonding session. From this trip, we also noted that Esther likes to take macro photos.
