Melbourne Trip 2 Part 2/3
Back to 1/3. | Forward to 3/3.

Day 3 – 07 Sep 2015:
Breakfast at the Lims’ cabin, then we parted ways as the Lims drove home and we drove to Phillip Island.

We saw some wild kangaroos and an emu along the way.

Dairy cows:

We reached San Remo about lunch time, the last town prior to the bridge to Phillip Island. We had lunch at a local bakery, walked about a little then entered Phillip Island.

Here are the boys having ice-cream at the Phillip Island visitor centre.

This is our cabin at Alvina Cottages. Nice home but the floor is cold! We checked in at about 2:00pm.

After checking in, we roamed the Alvina farm.

At about 4:00pm, we left to visit Cowes (the main town on the island) and went to Salvos (Salvation Army) to buy a longer sleeved jacket for Samuel. We also went shopping for groceries and sundry.

Then we had nice fish and chips in a local eatery, and right after that, we drove to Penguin Parade.

No photos or videos allowed at the Penguin Parade, so these are the only photos. The blue rain poncho ($5) was for Grace whose jacket is not water resistant.

That’s us after the Penguins, just before going to sleep.

Day 4 – 08 Sep 2015:
We roamed Alvina farm again after waking.

Then we returned to the cottage for our breakfast.

Next stop, The Nobbies. Very beautiful rocky sea side cliffs.

Esther and David loved the place so much that they just stood there to enjoy the sights and sounds of the waves.

As we left The Nobbies, we had to give way to some local birds.

Next stop, the Koala Sanctuary. We saw kangaroos (wallabies) and koalas.

By noon, we had lunch at Cowes.

Next stop – Churchill Island (off-Phillip Island), linked by a single lane traditional bridge.

This is a preserved show-farm to demonstrate to visitors the 18th century farm life in Australia.

The children milked the cow.

We saw sheep shearing, and YowCH tried whip-cracking.

The working dog show was great, the sheep obeyed the dog very neatly.

There was a kangaroo enclosure.

The last item we visited was the old farm house.

By late afternoon, we went back to Cowes. YowCH and Grace walked Cowes Jetty while the children rested in the car.

Then we drove to Red Rock and YowCH and Esther went out to the rocks.

We went back to cottage and had instant noodles and lamb-chops dinner at about 7:00pm.

After some games and office work, we slept.

Day 5 – 09 Sep 2015:

We ate the remaining food for breakfast.

Samuel was really happy chasing the ducks.

And being spring, the cherry blossoms are really nice.

We left Alvina at about 10:00am, and visited Cape Woolamai, but it was raining, so we left after a short while.

Next stop – Panny’s chocolate factory, where we paid to see the chocolate creations, had games and saw the factory. Then we bought a great load of chocolates to bring home.

On the way to San Remo, it rained again.

We reached San Remo just on time to see the pelicans feeding at 12:00noon.

We had our lunch at the nearby fish and chips, followed by ice-cream.

Then we took a long drive to Mooyarra, for cheese tasting and Devonshire Tea.

After the cheese, we wanted to get to Korrumburra for Gooseneck Pottery, but they were not opened. So we drove back to Lims’ home.

With smooth traffic, we reached the Lims’ place about 5:30pm, and we had some street-fun with the neighbourhood children.

YowCH actually went for a run, but stopped at 1km due to the very cold air.

After having Hwee Leng’s fantastic home-cooked dinner, we rested and had devotion time before sleeping.
