We last visited Melbourne back in 2009, the site is here.

From 5 to 12 September 2015, we enjoyed a week-long holiday in Melbourne again, with our Melbourne-resident friends Samuel Lim, Hwee Leng and their 6 children.

Click on the map below to see the details of our trip.

Day 0 – 04 Sep 2015:
We took a Qantas flight from Singapore to Melbourne. Smooth journey, took off on time and arrived 30 minutes early!

Day 1 – 05 Sep 2015:
At the Melbourne Airport, we re-packed a little while waiting for the car rental shop to open at 7:00am. We got ourselves some coffee to get loose change and bought a local Pre-paid SIM card for local use.

That’s our Kia Carnival 8-seater 3.0L V6 family wagon. A good price at $600+ thanks to Samuel’s contact.

After an hour’s drive, we reached the Lims’ home at Narre Warren South

With a little re-packing, we headed to Wilson Promontory with the Lims leading in their red Estima.

As the Tidal River cabins were not yet ready for check-in, we ate packed home-prep food for our lunch at the carpark.

That’s the cabin.

After settling down, we walked about the Tidal River area and saw some wombats.

Dinner was prepared by the Lims, nice pasta.

Day 2 – 06 Sep 2015:
The Lims prepared breakfast, and we joined them, followed by a short Sunday worship and devotion conducted by Samuel.

We then drove to Mt Oberon and hiked about 1hr15mins to reach the summit. Very beautiful view.

We reached the carpark after another 1hr+ hike down, and had our packed burgers for lunch at about 3:00pm.

Then we headed to Squeaky Beach, so called because the sand squeaks as we walked on the beach.

We then had instant noodles dinner at the cabin, and after dinner, we hiked a trail at Tidal River in the dark, looking for wombats.

That’s the group photo of the Yows and the Lims.
