150606 TYLin’s Sg Buloh trip 02

To catch the low tide, TYLin Staff club arranged the trip to Sungei Buloh to start at about 8:30am. YowCH brought the children and arrived at the new Visitor Centre at about 8:20am. Grace had work on this Saturday morning.

Here’s the TYLin team, with the Old Chang Kee breakfast ready to be distributed.

The scenery at the entrance was nicely done.

The children started eating some of the food, and YowCH had to make field repairs to the boots which started falling apart.

Here’s the pre-hike group photo.

We engaged a guide, and started hiking into the park at about 9:00am.

Today is also Esther’s 13th birthday.

Samuel walked a significant distance by himself, and he loves the wide-open outdoors environment.

Some of the animals we saw: birds in nest, dogs, otter, birds in flight.

The tide was really low, we can see the surface of the seabed!

It was most relaxing to watch the waves over the shallow mud beach.

These saplings are part of the re-planting efforts.

The guide brought along some collected insects, including a dead cicada.

David picked up a spider (dead one).

There were certainly mudskippers.

Mangrove roots.

Sometimes, Samuel got carried.

The path was rather easy to walk.

A lone tree on the beach.

Nice scenery from the Kingfisher Pod.

We rested for a while in the shade of the pod.

Samuel took the opportunity to climb up the pod and out of a window.

The children also enjoyed the rope bridge to the Mud Experience section.

We reached the old Visitor Centre at about 10:30am.

Here’s the completion photo.

A group decided to stay on and continue to the original section of the Wetlands.

We rested for a while…

… and started off at about 10:50 to the old section (prawn farms).

There were fishes and crocodiles.

We rested again in the huts along the way. At about 11:20am, we turned back.

We saw monitor lizards.

One of the lizards came out of the water and walked amongst us for a while!

There were other lizards basking in the sun.

By the time we walked out, Samuel was very tired, and once carried, he fell asleep.

That’s David at the entrance again, about 12:15pm.

We left the place at 12:20pm as the rain was threatening. We reached KKH at 1:00pm to have lunch with Grace. We thank God for a good time with friends and the nice weather the whole morning.
