150220 Zoo Trip 24
Second day of Chinese New Year, a day of rest, and so we visited the zoo (the last trip was 1.5 years ago). We left home at 8:15am, and reached the zoo at 8:40am, just nice that the zoo is open and the CNY crowd is not yet in.
This is the first zoo trip for Samuel, he was very happily looking at the animals.
The polar bear exhibit had a major renovation last year, and the height chart has been replaced by this sculpture.
The Groupon tickets came with free tram rides!
These are photos taken from the tram:
The garden was set up for the Year of the Goat/Sheep.
We took a full round of the tram, then started walking.
Something new: naked mole rats.
There were also Malayan sun-bears.
We took our seats at the splash zone for the sea lion show.
Then we had an early lunch at 11:00am to avoid the crowds (estimated 12,000 visitors!) at Ah Meng Restaurant. We ate nasi lemak and chicken chop.
After lunch, we took tram again to Africa section again.
Samuel fell asleep after lunch.
You can see the crowd, mostly overseas visitors.
Samuel woke up as we reached the Hamadryas Baboons.
Samuel likes the turtles, probably reminded him of the two terrapins we have.
The tiger exhibit was packed with people. But we managed to see from the side.
Lastly, babirusa, tapir and white-face Saki monkey.
At the exit, we saw an educational exhibit with sheep and goat skulls, for the year of the goat/sheep.
We left the zoo at 2:30pm and reached home at 3:00pm.
We thank God for a good nice sunny day in the zoo that we can enjoy as a family.
