141213 to 16 Trip to PJ

We took 2 days leave on Monday and Tuesday (15 and 16 Dec) and spent the weekend in PJ with YowCH’s parents and family.

Day 1: 141213
Our luggage is rather light, considering the short trip. We planned to leave Singapore at our usual 4:00am, but given that the TYLin Annual Dinner on Friday night ended at about 11:00pm, followed by some time to chat with the KL office colleagues at Brewerks, we slept at 2:00am, hence 4:00am drive was not feasible.

We left home at 11:00am, and seeing from Traffic Cam that both Tuas and Woodlands are jammed, we went to Star Vista for lunch. Finally, we set off at about 1:05pm. Still we queued on Singapore side for more than 30 minutes.

But that was not the bad news, after Singapore checkpoint, we queued for another 4hours plus to reach the Malaysia checkpoint!

We entered the highway only at about 5:50pm, and drove to the 3rd lay-by, Simpang Renggam, for toilet break (to avid the toilet jam of everyone after 5 hours of queue). The road speed in South Johore was typically lower, but after Machap, typical highway speed was possible.

We stopped at Pagoh for ice-cream break at Baskin Robbins at about 7:30pm. Dinner was too crowded with other highway users, particularly with the time coinciding with the evening Solat prayers.

We reached PJ at 10:05pm, and joined YowCH’s friends and sister’s family at Jalan Kayu SS2 for supper at 10:20pm.

Finally, we reached YowCH’s home at 11:45pm.

Day2: 141214
On Sunday, we spent the morning at home. We took Samuel’s weight, about 7.0kg, having gained about 700gm since August.

We had lunch with YowCH’s aunty’s family (the Lims and Loos) at Oriental Pavilion. The dim sum was great.

After lunch, we returned home adn the children had some fun time playing. Here, they look like The Losers.

YowCH and Grace went out for a massage at Baliayu, Paradigm Mall, due to the bad body aches after the very long drive.

After the massage, we returned home and left for dinner at Pradigm Mall again, at Paradise Dynasty.

After dinner, we shopped about a little, then had Hokkaido Ice-cream before returning home.

Day 3: 141215
On the 3rd day, Monday, we went to the neighbourhood mamak shop for breakfast, then YowCH visited TYLin KL office while Grace shopped at Megaherbs.

Later, we returned home to pick up the children, including Yen Yen, and went to One Utama for shopping. We had lunch at Kluang Station, and bumped into YowCH’s maths teacher, Mrs Katherine Chong.

After shopping, we picked Yu Yu from the baby-sitter and went home to enjoy some donuts.

The children had some time to play together.

Here’s YowCH’s mum with the Samuel’s First Year Photobook that we gave her.

Samuel enjoyed his bath in the bathtub.

Then we had dinner at home, nice food by mum.

Later, at about 9:45pm, we met Chee Kean, Ming Meng and YowCH’s sister and family at Donald’s Durian and had durian supper.

David, not a durian eater, sat through quietly, and so after durians, we adjourned to Jalan Kayu for more supper.

Day 4: 1411216
Final day started with us waking late. Then we had lunch at home before final packing.

As we were loading the car, Samuel tried to escape through the gate. Very funny!

We left home at about 2:00pm, and went for coffee at Shyet Li, Jaya33.

After coffee, we drove to Singapore at 3:30pm. The drive started slow due to rain and heavy traffic. But once past Seremban, we were up to speed again.

We had a stop break at Pagoh for toilet and we bought some food. We also fed Samuel milk and banana.

And, as usual, we had our dinner at KFC Gelang Patah. We reached at 7:05pm, and ordered pepes first before going for KFC.

The pepes waiting time was 1/2 hour, which was just nice for us to pick up and eat after our main course of KFC.

There were queues at both Malaysia and Singapore checkpoints, but not too long. all in all, we started queuing at 8:10pm and entered AYE at 8:45pm.

Reaching home at 9:05pm, we unloaded and unpacked by 10:30pm.

Thank god for good time with family and friends, and for safety on the road.
