140809 to 11 Trip to PJ
The children had Monday off on 11 Aug, as Singapore National Day (9 Aug) fell on a Saturday. We took the long weekend as a good opportunity to drive back to PJ to meet Tan Yen Li, the new cousin for Esther, David, Joseph and Samuel, born on 21 July 2014 to Daren and Loon.
9 Aug 2014:
As usual, we left home at 5:00am after stuffing the car with our entire Antonios set, to bring the set to YowCH’s parents.
We arrived at PJ at 8:30am after a good drive, and met up with Chee Kean for dim sum breakfast at Jin Xuan Damansara Jaya.
Ahh, the new baby girl, about 3 weeks old now.
Incidentally, Samuel started climbing stairs, and there was no stopping him from his many trips up the stairs.
We had lunch at the Yong Tau Foo place near home, nice.
In the afternoon, we had some time for basketball and playground, with Yen Yen. And at night, we went to Kayu for supper with the Loos (YowCH’s cousin)
10 Aug 2014:
The next morning, we woke early and went to Yuk Chai Chinese Primary School (YowCH’s sisters studied here, and so does Yen Yen), for a Petaling Jaya Carnival.
Joseph had a flying-fox ride. Esther and David were free to roam on their own, but they accompanied Yen Yen and the Loos most of the time.
Samuel had some fun crawling on the grass.
Esther’s bubbles were really nice.
After the Carnival, we had lunch at home and then some durians bought at the Carnival.
Oh, not forgetting to weigh Samuel, he is now 6.5kg.
We then visited YowCH’s friends, the Chims. The children enjoyed Monopoly while the adults had some chit-chat.
The children were helpful in peeling the petai (also bought at the Carnival) off the pods.
YowCH’s cousin brought some mangosteens which are rather special, being shaped like a top (as in spinning top, refer Wikipedia) instead of round bottom. They have a nice fragrant sweetness.
And then, before we ended the night, supper with Chee Kean and Ming Meng, then met Ai Lin and Andy at Chee Kean’s house.
11 Aug 2014:
On Monday, we had some time for basketball and playground.
After the morning games, we went shopping at Megaherbs and Giant. We then ate simple coffee shop hawker lunch at SS3/5, with very nice noodles and rice.
After lunch and final packing, we drove off at 2:00pm and stopped at Pagoh for ice-cream break.
Next, we detoured into Legoland to visit the site of our condo, currently being built, and at the piling stage.
And the usual KFC dinner at Gelang Patah.
We left Malaysia checkpoint at 7:15pm with no queue but had to queue for 1 hour and 15 minutes at the Singapore checkpoint!
We finally got home at about 8:45pm.
Thank God for good drives, safety, good weather, meeting with YowCH’s family (new baby, especially) and friends.
