101210 to 13 Trip to PJ, TYL Annual Dinner, Zoo

We made a trip to PJ on Friday morning, 10 Dec, for the TYLin International Annual Dinner on Saturday, 11 Dec. The drive was very comfortable due to the off-peak day and setting out early in the morning at 5:50am, arriving home at 10:20am with a 45-minute breakfast at Pagoh.

Apart from the normal shopping and time at home, we spent some time with YowCH’s friends over supper, and we had roti tisu (tissue bread). Very crispy prata coated with Planta margarine, sugar and condensed milk.

On Sunday, we thank God for the good weather, and managed to make a trip to the Zoo Negara and National Science Centre. The Zoo is at Melawati, which is now a short 25 minutes drive from our home at SS4C thanks to the new DUKE (Duta – Ulu Klang Expressway).

Quite an ancient practice to charge for video camera:

The animal show was entertaining:

There was certainly more cages than Singapore Zoo.

The bears (Malayan Sun bear, Brown bear) were great!

Fast food lunch at “The Wild”:

The tortoise might have been the same one that YowCH saw as a small boy!

There is much space for the giraffes to run about with the zebras, ostriches and antelopes within the African Savannah enclosure.

The chimpanzees were rather moody:

The toilet is nice:

We had some Pringles for snacks:

And then, there were tigers, tiger cubs and lions, the big stars of any zoo:

The shelter for the elephants and giraffes seems to be that which was built in the 1960s!

We left the zoo at about 3:00pm and joined Chee Kean at the National Science Centre (at Sri Hartamas). There was a dinosaur exhibition, which was quite nice.

The Science Centre closed at 5:00pm.

We then left PJ on Monday afternoon after lunch at home, setting off at 3:00pm and reaching home at 8:30pm (10 minutes refuel at Machap and 45-minutes break for dinner at Gelang Patah). We covered total distance of 920km in this trip.
