140130 to 0204 Chinese New Year 2014, Kidzania

We drove back to PJ for Chinese New Year on 30 Jan 2014, Thursday (last day of the Chinese Calendar), started the drive at 2:30am and reached PJ home at 6:00am with very low traffic. All the 4 children were seat belted throughout the drive! When we arrived, YowCH washed the car while Esther and David did their school homework.

This is Samuel on YowCH’s bouncer (yes, 40 years old).

Then Yan and family arrived, hence all of the children got to play together.

YowCH’s mum made a simple but delicious lunch.

Then we went to Kidzania to meet with the Phans (YowCH’s cousin and his son, from Taiwan) and the Loos.

Here the children ‘run’ the town with play occupations and play money. Lots of fun activities.

Petrol kiosk attendant. To drive, the child must pass the driving theory, then buy insurance! Takes too much time.

There are activities for young children, too.

Hospital A&E.

Esther at the Courtroom.

Joseph made sushi at Sushi King.

David, Yan Yan and Joseph baked cup-cakes.

Esther at the mobile phone ‘shop’.

Guan Chen is a little disadvantaged, not speaking English and Malay, but he did enjoy many of the nice stuff, like Fireman and Pilot.

Esther wrote some Chinese greetings, and so did David and Joseph.

Esther at the mineral water bottling plant.

David, Yan Yan and Joseph at the fashion show, then pumping petrol to earn some money.

Esther pumping petrol and working as the radio DJ.

Joseph as policeman.

Nothing for Samuel, though.

At the end of the day, the play money was used to buy some souvenirs.

When we got home, we had a great reunion dinner, again by YowCH’s mum.

That was followed by a birthday celebration for Guan Chen.

The next morning, on the first day of the new year, we had lunch at home.

Then we went out to e-Curve to shop with Chee Kean and Ming Meng. The fast-food chain Kebab Turki is good!

Then we had dinner at home.

After dinner, we visited Chee Kean and Ming Meng at their home, followed by supper at Kayu, with friends Thean Seong and Sri.

1 Feb 2014

On the second day of CNY, YowCH and David played basketball for a while. Then we had lunch at home.

After lunch, we visited YowCH’s uncle at Kepong.

The children had some fun with a working type-writer!

Dinner was at Kepong Jusco, Wok Sifu.

2 Feb 2014

We visited the Chims with Thean Seong and Chee Kean. The children from both Yows and Chims had a great time playing together while the adults had our chit-chat time. At noon, we returned home for lunch, again YowCH’s mum’s nice cooking.

Then we had some activities at home. Here is Esther’s new rubber-band weaver:

Yan’s in-laws brought her family over.

Chee Kean and Ming Meng played Citadels with Esther and David.

And then, the CNY family portrait, thanks to Chee Kean.

For dinner, we went to Ah Wet Thai restaurant at Sungei Ara.

After dinner, Grace and the children visited the Chims for games again, while YowCH and Ray Mun went to Kayu for drinks and met up with Thean Seong, Sri and Vooi Lee.

3 Feb 2014

We woke up earlier and went to the playground to meet with the Chims. The boys played basketball together for a while, then had some fun at the play area.

After playing, we went out to One Utama. For lunch, we ate at Kluang Station. YowCH’s parents and sisters had their heavy breakfast, so they did not eat together.

Interestingly, we found cuff-links with the Chinese Character “游”. How queer.

In the evening, we met with YowCH’s aunty’s family and had dinner at New Paris, SS2. Very fast service and tastes pretty good.

Then we got home and packed our things for travel.

4 Feb 2014

To avoid heavy traffic, we left home at 4:00am. Given the very low traffic, even the Tuas Checkpoints were clear. We got home at 7:30am. It was good to travel early, too, as the car aircon is not working well and the afternoon heat would have been unbearable. All the 4 children sat through the trip without taking of the seat belts! When we got home, the minions were very helpful in helping unload and unpack. Well, Esther and David skipped another day of school.

We thank God for a good trip, for good weather, low traffic, smooth drive, and fantastic time with family and friends over the Chinese New Year.

After we unpacked, we met Grace’s parents and Gene for dim-sum lunch at Crystal Jade.

Thank God for family time.
