YowCH & Grace

This year, TYLin Staff Club organised the company trip to Hong Kong and Macau from 17 to 20 May 2008. Here’s our trip diary and photos:

Day 1 – 17 May 2008

  
03:00 Woke up, breakfast at home.

04:00 Gene & Dad fetched us to airport.
04:30 Checked in.
05:30 Porridge breakfast at airport.
06:15 Boarding, tour guide So Tong Keong.
07:00 Took off on Jetstar 3K 691.
10:20 Landed in HK, Kai Tak, long immigration queue.

11:20 Bus ride to lunch with local guide Dennis Wong.

12:45 Lunch at Tsim Sha Tsui restaurant.
13:30 City tour – Convention Centre.


14:30 Aberdeen (Bei Fung Tong) – sampan boat ride.




15:15 Repulse Bay (Chin Tsui Wan).
16:10 Look-out point at 1/2 height of Victoria Peak (San Teang).

16:45 Visited Tse Sui Luen Jeweleries (TSL), bought crystal apple for Esther.
17:30 Reached Park Hotel, Cameron Road, Tsim Sha Tsui.
17:50 Checked into Room 614.
18:10 Walk to Cheong Lok St, Jordan for dinner, recommended place fully booked, back tracked to Jordan Road for alternate food.


18:55 Dinner at Jordan Road, pretty good.
19:45 Others went for light show at Hong Kong Harbour, Yows decided to return to Park Hotel to rest.
20:00 Took MTR from Jordan to TST.
20:30 Bought milk & bread, returned to hotel.
20:45 Shower & TV.
21:45 Children slept.
00:00 Planned Disneyland program, then slept.

Day 2 – 18 May 2008

 
07:00 Wake up.
07:30 Breakfast at McDonald’s, macaroni chicken chop was good.
08:15 Meeting at Park Hotel lobby for Disneyland.



08:40 MTR from TST to Disneyland.


09:30 Arrived at Disneyland.
10:00 Entered Disneyland – Esther not well, threw-up twice. She then slept and rode around in a pram, then became better after lunch. David fine until 18:45 when he fell asleep.

We had to wait 30 minutes in queue to get to Mickey and Minnie.



It is obvious that Esther is not looking very well.





Golden Mickey (Award Show) is unique to Hong Kong Disneyland.


The food was not expensive, and tasted pretty nice, not like typical fast-food.

Small World was opened only two weeks before our visit. Very cute and nice.



Finally, David collapsed, while waiting for the Winnie the Pooh ride.

20:40 Left by taxi after final fireworks.


21:20 Dinner at Charlie Brown Café, Cameron Road.

22:20 Back to hotel, showered and packed for trip to Macau.
23:30 Children slept.
00:00 Slept.

Day 3 – 19 May 2008

 
07:00 Woke up.
07:50 Check-out of Park Hotel.
08:10 Breakfast on our own.

08:30 Back to hotel to join group.
08:40 Group breakfast at dim sum restaurant, lousy.
09:30 Back to hotel to collect luggage.
09:45 Took tour bus to ferry terminal.
10:15 Immigration at HK.

11:10 Ferry to Macao.
12:40 Landed, immigration at Macao.
13:10 Bus to Metropark Hotel with local guide Agnes Tin Lai Lai.
13:30 Checked into Metropark Hotel.
14:05 Took taxi to Venetian Casino.



14:25 Arrived at Venetian Casino, had lunch with Xu Cheng, Kenneth Liew & Ma Wei at Venetian food court.


16:15 Gondola ride and shopping (heavy rain, so we couldn’t go out).
18:30 Took taxi back to hotel.

19:30 Met others at hotel, we then chartered a bus to fetch us to dinner at A Vencedora aka Kun Kei (local food) at Rua do Campo, 19 pax.
21:00 Walked back to hotel while the rest took a trip to Venetian Casino, met Xu Cheng, Kenneth Liew & Ma Wei along the way.
21:50 Grace & children returned to hotel, YowCH searched for egg tart but couldn’t find any, but while walking along the streets approached by many prostitutes.
22:10 Returned to hotel, Esther & David enjoyed a bath in the tub.
23:05 Grace & children slept.
23:30 YowCH slept.

Day 4 – 20 May 2008

 
06:45 YowCH woke up.
07:50 All woke up.
08:10 Breakfast at hotel.
09:05 Roamed the streets, raining quite heavily.
09:20 Walked back to hotel.
09:50 Checked out of hotel.
10:10 On bus for city tour, guide is Agnes Tin, still raining.

10:30 Visited Kun Iam statue.

11:00 Visited St. Paul ruins.
12:00 Shopped at cookie shop for cookies and snacks.



12:35 Visited A-ma temple, finally rain stopped for a while.
13:10 Reached Babylon Casino for lunch.
14:05 Visited Macao fisherman’s wharf, heavy rain.


13:25 Visited Macao tower, most went up but we didn’t (too cloudy and raining, couldn’t see far). Shopping at Toys R Us instead.

16:40 Reached airport and checked in.
18:30 Boarded Jetstar 3K 576.
18:50 Took off for Singapore.
22:30 Landed in Singapore.
23:00 Picked up by parents.
23:40 Reached home.

02:30 Unpacked, downloaded photos, slept.

Thank God for these wonderful 4 days, with great fun for the children, some sight-seeing for Grace and YowCH, and bonding between colleagues for the TYLin gang.
