100910 Bollywood Veggies
Our church friend’s daughter, Rebecca celebrated her birthday at Bollywood Veggies this morning, and we had great fun at a Singapore organic farm. It was a long drive to Lim Chu Kang, but the kampung atmosphere was fantastic.
The guide, Geraldine, was very helpful:
That’s blue tongue for eating the blue pea-flowers (used for food colouring):
And then it rained, but only for about 30 minutes.
While waiting for the rain to subside, the children had a session of potting plants.
Then it was makan time.
After makan, we had the birthday cake.
After the rain and the celebrations, it was educational tour again, followed by a treasure hunt of the plants at the farm.
Joseph also started drinking from a cup on his own without spilling!
Some of the interesting plants we took photo of:
Pisang Seribu (a thousand fingers bananas):
The irrigation pond collects rainwater for watering the plants, and covered almost fully with hyacinths.
Nona, or custard apple in English.
This is a close up of the banana flower, ants!
Thank God for a shady and cool day. The rain was not too long and the children had great fun at the farm. Also thanks to Rosalind and Beng Tiek for the great idea of having a party at Bollywood Veggies. YowCH even had a long chat with Mdm Ivy Singh (owner) on political issues!
