130816 SEA Aquarium Trip 1

With PSLE Oral Exams on 15 and 16 August, Esther and David had holidays, and Grace got us some tickets on-line at discounted prices to the SEA Aquarium. We went over to Resort World Sentosa on Friday, 16 August 2013, reaching SEA Aquarium at 9:45am to get in earliest possible at opening time of 10:00am. Just at the entrance, we saw the front of Zheng He’s (Cheng Ho) flagship Treasure Ship and watched the introductory show at 9:55.

Once the gates opened at 10:00am, we went in and made a beeline for aquariums, by-passing the maritime museum exhibits and the Typhoon Theatre. There was a crowd, but not too many people, being a working day.

The tanks can be rather huge, you can see Joseph at the centre.

Esther and David enjoyed the petting pool, but Joseph wasn’t too keen.

The controversial dolphins were there, swimming in a large tank.

Huge crabs (chilli fried or cheese butter baked?) and nice jellyfishes and nettles.

The we reached the highlight of the aquarium, the world’s largest aquarium and the world’s largest acrylic viewing panel.

We had our breakfast there, expensive sandwiches and sausage buns, but tasted rather good.

After the large aquarium, we continued on.

A very large ‘sek pan’ (tilapia), really makes you crave for seafood.

A scene from Finding Nemo:

A large eel, about 1.0m long!

Just before leaving, we took a family photo.

Then the tunnel out, seeing sharks all around us.

The bigger white shark was actually biting and killing the smaller grey one!

And a strangely coloured zebra shark.

At the exit, we took a few more photos.

Then we looked at the Maritime Museum exhibits and watched the show in the Typhoon Theatre (4D, with wind, water, vibration, sinking effects).

We left the Aquarium at 1:30pm and drove over to Vivocity for lunch.

Thank God for a very pleasant family outing and for a great learning experience.
