130223 Bird Park Trip 4 with Loos

We went to the Bird Park with the Loos (YowCH’s cousin sister’s family) on 23 Feb 2013. We entered the Bird Park at 8:30am and left at 1:15pm, followed with lunch at Bongo Burger until about 2:00pm.

These are the children, Zi Yan and Zi Yu , with Esther, David and Joseph.

The penguin flies in the water. There wasn’t any other visitors to the Bird Park yet at 8:30am.

Joseph needed to get closer to the the flamingoes.

This is the group photo with all of us. We stopped here for breakfast of packed kaya-butter toast at about 9:10am.

Esther was our map keeper and direction finder.

This is Joseph meeting the emu (large flightless bird).

This is the tallest man-made waterfall in the world, probably no one else wanted a taller waterfall.

At 10:00am, we saw the Kings of the Skies show – birds of prey.

The we visted the hatchery.

The next show was at 11:00am, the High Flyers.

After the show, the children took photos with the baby flamingoes (well, they allowed 2 to take at one time, so this photo is fake, Esther is added).

The World of Darkness next, we saw owls. These photos were taken without flash under extremely low lght.

YowCH’s favourite section – hornbills.

We had a break for drinks.

The Lory Loft was next.

Finally, David’s favourites – birds of prey.

As we leave, we saw the ostrich and rhea (again).

And here’s the end of the trip, taken at Bongo Burger.

The overall experience was great as the weather was good, and there weren’t many visitors. We also had a great time interacting with our relatives.
