Weekend – YowCH walk & egg tarts, Esther worship & Youtube, Grace lava cake, Yongs’ move

29 May, YowCH’s second brisk walk of 2.5km, covered in 21m15s, much faster than last Tuesday night.

Completed the walk just as the rain started.

Saturday lunch:

Esther was in the worship team (recorded) for Youth service.

Grace made lava cake using the air fryer:

Resulting cake was good, but seems overcooked, no flowing lava.

YowCH recorded teaching memory verse for church juniors, presented on 29 May.

For dinner, we had wanton mee. This time, we had pork and prawn wantons.


Pork wantons were fried in the air fryer, and the prawn wantons were cooked in soup.

YowCH did the shucking, a very new experience.

Cooked gong bao frog legs for dinner, very nice. Frog legs from Sheng Siong.

On Monday, we took leave to help the Yongs move home from the Bishan HDB flat to The Scala (at Ang Mo Kio).

While helping with the move, we saw Esther’s music video cover of the song “At My Worst” premier on Youtube. Then we ordered Fat boys burgers and picked them up from the Thomson outlet for dinner at home. YowCH tried the ‘impossible’ burger, which is vegetarian but tasted just like meat, quite good, but not worth the high price.

24 May, YowCH visited his KTP and SJ sites, N111 and Simpang Kiri.

Grace made egg tarts using the air fryer.


We had clam pasta and braised pork-ribs with bitter gourd.

On Tuesday, 25 May, YowCH restarted distance exercise with brick walking, exactly 3 months after the fracture on the shin.

Managed to cover 2.5km in 24m30s. Not fast, but it is a start.

26 May, Vesak Day holiday, YowCH repaired the small green knife which handle had shattered. Carved a wooden handle as replacement.

Dinner included air fried chicken wings.

After dinner, YowCH used the air fryer to make nian gao wrapped with spring roll skin.

With duan wu jie upcoming, we had Zhong for dinner on 28 May, made by Grace’s mom.

Weekend cooking, Samuel KFC

22 May, Saturday, YowCH cooked crocodile meat!



Tastes like chicken, but tough like lean pork.

Samuel attended KFC online, with himself leading worship.

We had wanton mee for dinner.

The wantons were fried in the air fryer.

Weekend – KFC worship, swim, Ting Hai

YowCH and Samuel recorded 3 worship services for Church Junior Sunday School in one afternoon on Saturday, 15 May.

On Sunday, we went for swim, the pool was very empty.

We had dimsum lunch after swim.

In the afternoon, YowCH recorded 听海 (Ting Hai) with Esther’s help. YowCH played guitar, bass and sang.

Esther played the keyboard, electric guitar and drums (using midi on keyboard).

She did the editing and balancing.

Weekdays food

YowCH was working from home on Tuesday, 11 May, here’s breakfast while working.

Another change of the rubber for YowCH’s tongkat after about 6 weeks of use. The leg fracture is healing well.

Lunch at Duckland, on 13 May, Hari Raya holiday. Grace was working.

14 May, YowCH had breakfast with Grace near Tekka Market.

Dinner with the younger boys at Vivocity, nice Ramen, on 7 May.


David sprained his ankle in school, but nothing too serious.

We joined a Church event to support our missions, in this case Bali. This even was held online on 8 May 2021.

And we ate Indonesian food, ayam penyet while learning about the mission field in Bali.

We ordered Subway for lunch on Sunday, 9 May.

Esther went for her driving practice.

We had dinner with Grace’s parents and Gene, popiah!


YowCH’s birthday

YowCH celebrated his 47th birthday with a nice vegetarian dinner with family at Lingzhi.

We ordered some signature dishes!

We had a cake, sent by Adelia, our insurance agent.

YowCH vaccine, dinner with Lims, Esther admission to SIT

YowCH took his first dose of Moderna Covid-19 vaccine on 3 May.

Got some freebies.

We invited the Lims over for Korean BBQ dinner, as Hong Kian will be leaving for his long posting in China soon. YowCH could prepare this dinner as he was on leave. David made Japanese garlic fried rice.

We had so much food!



Then the grease in the grill plate water-ring caught fire!

After dinner, we had a nice cake brought by the Lims to celebrate the upcoming birthdays of YowCH and Hong Kian.

The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) accepted Esther for Physiotherapy. We rejoice and thank God!

YowCH and Grace went out for dinner on Wednesday, 5 May. This was after visiting a friend’s mother’s wake. Hinode is at Lavender very near Singapore Casket.

Weekend updates – lunch with Leongs, soccer restart

We have this duster, and we used for quite a while. Good time to change it.

YowCH is still recovering from the fracture of the shin, but looks like the muscles on the right leg has gone down already.

We visited Yan’s family and had dimsum which Yan ordered. We met to eat together to celebrate mom’s birthday.

On Sunday, Grace and YowCH having breakfast while Samuel attended his Chines tuition class.

We joined the Leongs at their home for lunch.

Nice steak! Perfectly cooked by Hoi Hoong.


Used a gas torch to flame the beef! We need to get a torch for ourselves.

While the family continued their time at the Leongs, YowCH took Samuel to the West Coast Wolves soccer practice at Clementi Stadium, the first since March 2020 due to Covid.

Samuel was very enthusiastic about the training, even in a very hot afternoon.
