Samuel’s piano recital

Samuel had his first piano recital just 3.5 months since he started lessons with D-Flat Studios.

That was Aaron Goh (owner of D-Flat) introducing the session before many little children performed (mostly piano, but there were two singers).
Samuel’s turn was almost at the end, and he introduced himself and the songs he was to play. That’s his teacher, Valerie Tjota.

His playing wasn’t too bad, but rather soft (perhaps not confident).

Incey Wincey Spider, the last song had Esther accompanying him.

Supermoon Samuel, views from bedroom

Supermoon (full moon and nearest to earth) happened on Tuesday, but the moon was still very full on Wednesday night. YowCH brought Samuel out to see the moon and had some fun at the “O” of Block 38.

Saturday morning views from the bedroom window, before the regular run.

This is YowCH’s office tower.

This morning, YowCH ran 4.0km, and David did 2.4km.

Joseph attended school adventure camp

Joseph attended an adventure camp organised by his school, at MOE Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre at Changi East, ran by Touch Community Services. He left on Monday morning for the 3-day-2-night camp.

On Tuesday night, when he was going to the toilet at about 10.10pm, he slipped off 3 steps and hit his head on the floor. A small cut resulted and due to the head injury, the teacher and camp commandant sent him to Changi General Hospital A&E. YowCH and Grace went to the hospital, too.

The cut was rather small, 10mm, and not deep, and there was no other pain or injury.

We waited for the doctor, the treatment, and the medication.

The wound was cleaned and glue was applied to seal it. Finally we left the hospital at 2:00am, reaching home at 2:30am.

Joseph was given 4 days MC and will miss the last day of camp. But he returned to school for lessons on Thursday.

Weekend update

Samuel built our Year-of-the-Pig Lego set.

And Samuel has grown a bit more, he is above the 1.0m line now.

We had “Hawker” food with Grace’s parents after church. Interesting pairing of hawker food like chilli crab, satay, mala chicken or chicken rice with burger! Not too expensive but nice.

Sunday evening, we had waffles and spaghetti at the nearby Carrara, a small reward for Samuel playing well at football training.

Dinner with BCG at SAVH Dining in the Dark

Together with Beacon Cell Group, we had a dinner at Dining in the Dark, under the Singapore Association or the Visually Handicapped at Toa Payoh Rise on 15 Feb 2019. The boys were at Quincy’s place together with the other children, while Esther was out with her CJC friends.

That’s our group photo before dinner.

We ate in total darkness and got to experience the world of the blind. It was a very challenging and humbling experience.

The food was OK, but the fellowship over the dinner table in absolute darkness was a very special experience. We learned to appreciate our sight and understand the struggles of the blind better.

SJ lion dance, car alignment, children in uniform, old photos

On Friday, 8 Feb, SJ had lion dance in the office.

YowCH also took the Odyssey to servicing on Friday, but Honda screwed-up the alignment. The next week, on 12 Feb, the car was sent to Kenny Alignment for a proper job, much better drive now.

Kenny also re-centered the steering wheel.

13 Feb 2019, the first day Esther wears her CJC uniform. 4 children in 4 levels – kindergarten, primary, secondary and junior college.

We dug up two old photos of ourselves, taken back in 1995. That’s 24 years ago.

CNY Run

Grace had to work on the 2nd day of Chinese New Year (6 Feb 2019) and the rest of us went for sports, with YowCH, Esther and David going for a run. Here are our Nike shoes:

Warming up before running. Samuel and Joseph didn’t run, they played at the playground and basketball court instead.

After exercising, we went out for dinner before fetching Grace from work. However, there was no hawker food, and restaurants are way over-priced for CNY, so we ate McD (after a long time of not having any of it).

Updated: Esther’s Cebu mission trip 8 to 13 Jan 2019

Esther joined the Church’s mission trip to Cebu, Philippine from 8 to 13 Jan 2019 while waiting for the O-levels results. Click on the photos below for the page:

CNY 2019

Chinese New Year started on Sat 2 Feb for us, as we drove to PJ. After 2 nights in PJ, we returned to Singapore on Mon 4 Feb because Grace was on standby duty for Monday night. We had great food and family time in PJ with YowCH’s family and also in Singapore with Grace’s family.
