Dinner with Grace’s uncle and 3rd and 4th Aunties

Grace’s Uncle, 3rd Aunt and 4th Aunt came over from Pontian today, and we had dinner with them together with parents and Gene at Jack’s Place, Anchorpoint. A good time of family fellowship over Western food dinner.

2nd Fujifilm F200 EXR camera

We bought a second-hand unit of the Fujifilm F200 EXR at $100.00 to replace ours which has died on 21 April 2013 after 38,000 shots. This camera is useful to us as we have the underwater casing for it.

And black is nicer than our previous unit which was gold.

Joseph rejoins soccer training

After about half a year of not having soccer training, Joseph rejoined the soccer training today. We got him new long socks, shin guards and a new size 4 field ball.

He left previously because he was really too young to follow instructions, got distracted easily and rather disruptive to the session. Now, with threats of sending him for ballet classes instead, he agreed to behave well and participate actively. Today’s training went rather well with Joseph.

David had also improved his dribbling, passing and playing.

Fun with the Lims

We had a day off for Vesak Day holiday, and we spent the afternoon with the Lims cycling and playing at a playground, after a hearty Dim Sum lunch at Vivocity with them.

Baby 4 at 16 weeks, Joseph’s food fair

We saw the doctor today, and had a scan. Loaded at the end of the page here. Quite confirmed a boy.

Today Joseph had his food fair in school. His class was selling ‘wraps’ with lettuce and ham, and nata-de-coco fruit cocktail drink in rose syrup.

Hiking at Dairy Farm Nature Park

Today, Grace works half day, so YowCH brought the children to Dairy Farm Nature Park for a short 4.0km hike. Click on the photo to get to the page.

NUS Bridge wins BCA DESEA Award

YowCH’s project, the NUS Link Bridge won the Building and Construction Authority’s Design and Engineering Safety Excellence Award 2013. The QP, Er. Yong Fen Leong received the prize during the dinner on 16 May 2013 at Resorts World Sentosa. The bridge is curved on plan, and the cantilevered construction over AYE was a huge challenge to design and construction engineering.

YowCH brought the children to the NUS Link Bridge on 18 May 2013 after our morning hiking trip to walk the bridge.

Very nice to roll on the carpet grass of Town Green next to the Education Resource Centre in University Town.

Pomegranate

We had a large pomegranate, “石榴”, “buah delima” after dinner. It was about 5 inches (125mm) across and tasted sweet-sour with some bitter aftertaste (like dry wine or grape skin).

New IKEA Billy shelves for DVDs

The shorter Billy shelves we have for our DVDs are grossly insufficient for the growing collection, so we went over to IKEA today and bought 2 tall Billy shelves with 4 extra planks, all for $198.00.

This was the condition before:

And this is the new:

The whole family helped out (except for Grace, who is at work the whole of today).

1. Joseph cleared the toys from the area.
2. YowCH had to transfer the light switch about 4 inches to the right to be outside the shelf.
3. Esther helped move the shelf into place, note the good fit of the cut-outs for the wall power point and the switch cable.
4. David helped loading up the planks.

As a matter of fact, the assembly was mostly done by the children, YowCH provided guidance and strength. All detailed works are by Esther and David, and Joseph helped bring the tools, parts and gave support.

A final picture to show the cut-outs for the power point and light switch.
