E&D visits ER251 site and 1-day Malacca Trip by TYLin

On 15 May 09, Esther and David visited the TBSE addition ramp site (LTA’s Contract ER251), which is YowCH’s job. The visit was for YowCH to have one final check on the structure and rebar prior to casting the first span of the new ramp.

Then, TYLin’s Staff Club organised a Family Day Trip to Malacca on 16 May 2009, called ’1-day trail of the Little Nyonya”. You can see photos from the trip here.

YowCH’s “office photo”

Today, Grace took a photo for YowCH, as a formal photo to use for office matters, which we call the “office photo”.

The studio is actually our bedroom with some minor modifications and tight cropping. The chair that YowCH is seated on is actually our bed’s headboard! With some contruction photo and engineering books as background, the setting is quite OK for a ‘studio’ shot of an ‘office’! Here is the out take:

We have also updated the page for the Isis, scroll down to 14 March 2009 to see new photos.

Trip to PJ, 090116 to 090118

We had a trip to PJ on 16 Jan, hitching a ride with Swee Tong, as 15 members of TYLin SG went to KL for the TYLin KL annual dinner on 17 Jan at Cititel, Midvalley.

This was Joseph’s first trip out of Singapore. We had a great time at home. Esther and David played with Yen Yen, and we met with Chee Kean for shopping and food on Saturday, before YowCH went to the dinner.

On Sunday, we took train back to Singapore. It was a great trip. The children were not too difficult and we successfully travelled by train with all three of them. We bought 4 2nd class seats and Joseph slept in the pram at times.

TYLin durian trip, Lims & Yows Singapore Flyer trip and TYLin Southern Ridges walk

Wow, many activities in the last few weeks to update; starting with the TYLin Staff Club organised Durian Trip to Johore on 12 July 2008, then a trip to the Singapore Flyer with the Lims on 27 July 2008 and then a TYLin Staff Club organised walk on the Southern Ridge from Telok Blangah Rise to HortPark passing the Henderson Wave and the Alexandra Arch.

Grace was excluded from the Southern Ridge walk, as she is having vericose veins problems, and should not walk too much.

More details to follow when we have the time to upload the photos.

With Mediacorp’s HD5 channel available on Starhub for free, we subscribed to Starhub on 7 Aug 08 and bought the Samsung Series 4 32″ LCD TV. Hong Kong – Macao trip report

This year’s TYLin’s company trip was to Hong Kong – Macao from 17 to 20 May. We had a good time, but very tiring. A short itenerary report:

  • 17 May – arrival after 4 hours of flight, we woke up at 3:00am to meet at Changi Airport at 4:30am, and to catch the 6:30am flight by JetStar to Hong Kong. Then it is city tour by bus in the afternoon, we visited Aberdeen, Convention Centre, 1/2-way to The Peak, Repulse Bay and TSL Jeweleries. The night was free & easy and we walked Kowloon and had dinner with some colleagues at a local restaurant.
  • 18 May – Free & easy day, we took MTR to Disneyland with 9 others, while the rest went on their own sight-seeing or shopping. Hot day, but better than rain. We arrived at Disneyland at 9:30am, and waited for the opening at 10:00am. Esther was sick (fever and vomited) in the morning and had to miss out on two rides, but thank God she recovered by noon. We managed to watch all the shows and took all the rides we had planned, except for the High School Musical show which was postponed. By 6:00pm, David was so tired he slept through the Winnie the Pooh ride. We stayed on for the final fireworks at 8:00pm, and took a taxi back to hotel at 8:30pm. Dinner was at Charlie Brown Cafe.
  • 19 May – Took ferry over to Macao after lousy dim-sum breakfast at a restaurant. Free & easy at Macau but raining cats and dogs, so we spent the afternoon in The Venetian, then took taxi back to hotel, when we bumped in to the gang that went over to Zhuhai for shopping. We then had a very hearty dinner at a local restaurant, A Vencedora. After that we walked back to the hotel.
  • 20 May – City tour by bus from 10:00am, but still raining. Had some intermitent good weather between the rains at some tourist attractions. We visited the Kun Iam statue, A-ma Temple, St. Paul’s Cathedral and Macao Tower. Then, we flew back to Singapore by JetStar at 6:30pm and arrived about 10:30pm.
While it was hectic, tiring and dampened by the rain, we had a good time as a family, and interacting with my colleagues. Also, this shall be a ‘last’ trip for a long time to come, as Grace is now 3 months pregnant. Photos and trip details posted here.
