Esther and David musicians for worship

Esther played the guitar while David played the cajon as musicians for church Kids for Christ worship leader Ezra on both Saturday and Sunday.

That afternoon, as we prepared to go for football, we hung out at the playground for a while:

Church Family Fun Day

We enjoyed a nice Saturday morning of fun with our church friends at the Botanic Garden. The sun was out, but not too hot. We arrived rather early and started camp at a nice big tree for NewCG and eCG.

We prepared yam cake to share the night before, and brought nice drinks.

Prayer before the event starts.

Some photos of us.

And some photos with our friends:

Dinner with Lims, watching Star Wars 7, Christmas party at Gene’s place

On Saturday evening, after church, we had a nice dinner with the Lims at their place.

But we had to rush off as Grace worked overnight from 8:30pm.

On Sunday, we rested mostly at home. Then we went for a movie, thanks to a movie event by our Prudential insurance agent where we were given 5 free tickets to watch Star Wars 7 – The Force Awakens at Lido Theatre, Shaw House, Orchard Road. We left Samuel with Grace’s parents because he talks very much nowadays. The children brought along the lightsabers (certainly a must!).

The movie was interesting and entertaining enough, but lack of dark realities (Disney owns Lucasfilm now…). Still having the classic Star Wars feel to it, but much of the plotlines seemed borrowed from Episodes 4 to 6.

After the movie, we joined Gene’s Christmas party for her friends. Very nice pasta by mum.

There were many young children, and Samuel had a good time. The Starbucks log cake was great, too.

Here’s a photo of the LED solar-charged garden lights we picked up for Gene when we were at Melbourne. Very nice against the night lights of the pool. Only $1 each, weather proof!

Christmas Day

We went to church early in the morning. Samuel was very excited over the beautiful Christmas decorations.

He was also very enthusiastically singing along the Christmas songs during service.

Here’s a family photo taken after church. Thanks to Bernard Wee.

After church, we went for an early lunch at MacDonald’s followed with groceries shopping.

And here is Joseph, having completed the Lego Advent Set.

In the evening, we went to Gene’s place, Sorrento, for a swim, followed by dinner with the family and a nice time of singing.

Caroling on Christmas Eve, Lego for Joseph and Samuel

As we did for the past few years, we went singing carols with our church on Christmas Eve. YowCH was with David and Joseph at NUH lobby, while Esther went to the wards of NTFH.

Here’s Esther leaving church, getting on to the bus.

And this is the NUH lobby.

David played the cajon, Joseph played tambourines and maracas, while YowCH sang and played guitar or, ukulele.

We gave Joseph a set of Lego City Advent Calendar, which he started last night.

And Samuel, now older than 2 years, we took out the Duplo box, and he was overjoyed, saying “Samuel’s Lego” immediately.

We then had dinner with Grace’s parents, packed Indian-Muslim food from Al-Amaan.

9 days in Malaysia for family and church camp

We were back in PJ from 13 to 21 June for Church Camp (at Putrajaya) and family time. Click on the photos below for get to the page:

Good Friday at church playground, Esther baking with friend

We spent some time at the Church playground after Good Friday service.

Samuel really enjoys the slides. But he likes to slide head down!

Here are the children playing.

The 4.

Esther invited her friend, Chloe, over to our place and practiced baking cupcakes for her school exams.

While waiting for the cake to bake, they played Wii for a while.

David was also inspired and he did some crepes, filled with Nutella, peanut butter or marmalade.

CNY food!

Thursday, first day of CNY, we had lunch at Cedele, Great World City. YowCH had traditional vegetarian meal, and Esther followed suit. The rest ate normally.

After lunch, we shopped a little, then went to Moh Guan for dinner, and that was after our little outing to Labrador Park.

Friday, second day, we went to the zoo from morning to afternoon. Then we visited the Lims for a nice home hot-plate dinner.

On Saturday, we invited YowCH’s colleague Andrew and his family to our place for hotpot and hotplate lunch.

Then we went to church, and after service, we had dinner at “Different Taste” with the Tans and the Ngs.

Esther was leading the juniors table, and David gave thanks for the food.

Weekend activities

On Friday evening, we joined Esther for the Secondary 1 end-of-orientation performance at Queenstown Secondary School. That’s Esther with her classmates:

She was assigned a middle-row locker:

On Saturday, we noted Samuel climbing up the front gate:

He has also started walking a few un-supported steps.
Our church, “The Bible Church, Singapore”, celebrated the 57th anniversary in a simple service and dinner at church.

After church, we invited the Ngs to our place and we had a movie night, Guardians of the Galaxy.

Sunday was busy as ever, with our swim at noon-time. Samuel is now able sit on the back of a swimmer

Then, Esther went for ballet, and David and Joseph played soccer, in the rain.

After soccer, we met Grace’s parents and Gene for dinner at Sin Hoi San.
