YowCH last day KTP, runs, Thanksgiving Service

Last post of 2020. Our dinner on 29 Dec before getting Grace from work.

YowCH had lunch and dinner with some colleagues, as he will end his work at KTP (and SJ) on 31 Dec 2020.

Thursday, 31 Dec, last day of the year, last day of YowCH’s job as a Civil Engineering Consultant and also his last run of the year.

Throughout 2020, YowCH covered 562km in 171 runs.

The fake Adidas shoes bought in Vietnam in 2019 lasted only 3 months. Next year, he will run in $25 Decathlon shoes.

In the afternoon, YowCH packed the last of his stuff in KTP and moved them over to Chye Joo. This was done over two days (30 and 31 Dec) with David’s help.

And our last dinner of the year – McDonald’s.

After dinner, we joined the church online thanksgiving service, and the song Blessed To Be A Blessing was shown. YowCH and Esther recorded for this song.

After thanksgiving service, the family played mahjong, and YowCH cooked fried beehoon for supper.

An end to the pandemic ridden 2020 and the start of the new year!

Christmas

Christmas day, during Covid pandemic. We went to the 12:00noon church service.

During service, the song Esther and YowCH recorded was played:

We then visited Sorrento for a short while.

At home, just before dinner, YowCH, Esther and Samuel sang some Christmas songs.

A photo of our Christmas presents. The lemons are from YowCH to the children (this year’s joke).

We prepared hot-plate dinner and ate with Grace’s parents and Gene.

David bought some donuts for the family.

After dinner, we opened our presents.

On 27 Dec, we had mince meat pies for breakfast. Actually, there is no meat, mince meat pie is an English name for fruits pie.

We invited the Yongs over for dinner, and prepared the seafood earlier.

Again hot-plate.

The children had a good time cooking and eating.

We drank Swedish Glogg, Ikea brand, which Yan bought.

For dessert, we had fruit cake and Christmas pudding.

The Christmas pudding was really too sweet.

YowCH site, BCG ladies dinner

On 21 Dec, YowCH visited the North-south Corridor N111 site at work.

In the evening, the BCG ladies met at our place for dinner.

YowCH and the boys went to ARC for sushi dinner. Also went to 3 different NTUC to get tong yuen, but couldn’t get any as it is mid-winter today. Finally settled for the small ones.

The small tong yuen, shared with the BCG ladies.

And the highly alcoholic (but very nice) fruit cake.

Junior Camp, caramel sweets, Youth Camp, peanut snack

Samuel had his Junior Church Camp (Z-Supa, organised by Scripture Union) which was held on-line this week.

YowCH continued this regular runs.

Our dinner, with young coconuts as dessert.

David tried out making caramel sweets, very nice! Grace helped.

Youth camp started on Friday, 11 Dec, with online meetings.

Samuel wasn’t in Youth Camp, he was just playing games on the iPad.
After the Youth Camp meeting, YowCH and Esther recorded the Christmas song for the choir, with Grace’s help.

YowCH runs, and also does his gym exercises.

Esther bought some strong sour and hot noodles online for the family. Very tasty, can buy more!

Samuel at tuition again, extra-time again.

We bought peanut snacks which is a type of traditional sweets, very nice.

Satay, Samuel tuition, church service resume, amplifier

We bought some satay from NTUC to grill on our charcoal stove, very nice!

Here’s Samuel at the Chinese tuition centre, he couldn’t finish his work, so he had extra-time at the front counter.

After tuition, we ate noodles, while Esther, David and Joseph settled their own lunches as they went to church in the afternoon.

5 Dec, our church service resumed the week before, and this week, BCG attended.

That’s Samuel in his junior class.

And we had dinner at Sorrento with Grace’s parents and Gene.

On Sunday, we had our regular swim, followed by lunch at Henderson.

YowCH ordered an amplifier from China to hook-up with the old mini-hifi speakers (from 1995). Costing only $25 including postage, the amplifier works well, and even has Bluetooth to pair with the children’s phones. We placed the set in the kitchen to have music while cooking.

We went to United Square for dinner before picking Grace from her afternoon shift.

Food, YowCH lipids medication, Blue Trace token, Samuel writing Chinese, Youth Service at Church

27 Oct lunch.

28 Oct lunch and dinner.

29 Oct lunch. Esther and David remained at the School Canteen to study.

YowCH visited his site at Tanglin Halt.

YowCH also met his doctor who prescribed medication to control blood lipids, following the health check report. Taking “Lipanthyl Penta 145″ which is 145mg of Fenofibrate daily.

30 Oct breakfast.

At the swab test on 30 Oct, YowCH also collected the Blue Trace token used for contact tracing at construction sites.

Lunch

A photo of Samuel doing his Chinese writing homework before going for Chinese tuition.

We had lunch at Xin Wang, WCP before the youths’ Church service, which had just restarted following the Covid lock-down.

KFC worship, food, Samuel KFC craft stuff

Samuel led worship for KFC, and YowCH recorded with him (with Esther’s help) on 21 Sep 2020.

Dinner on 22 Sep.

Samuel received a package from church for KFC activities.

Simple lunch for YowCH on 23 Sep.

Dinner with parents, masks from Temasek, sports

Our Church sent a pack of goodies and activities to Samuel for Father’s Day.

Grace’s parents came over for dinner on 28 June (with government allowing not more than 5 visitors, better they come than we go). YowCH cooked wonton mee.

After dinner, mom used the Xiaomi hair clipper to cut dad’s hair.

Sunday, 28 June, Samuel watching the worship lead by YowCH (with Esther and Joseph) recorded on 9 June.

On Monday, we collected the masks issued by Temasek. These masks are better than the earlier ones from the government.

Some sports we did in June, David got to play basketball with his friends (limited to 5 persons, though).

YowCH continued his exercises and bought a yoga ball (from Lazada, delivered in 3 days) to do the exercises prescribed by his physio-therapist from the chiropractor.

YowCH was also very regular in his runs. From the calendar, he has been making 3x 2.5km runs weekly, with a 4.0km or 5.0km run on Sundays.

In 6 months, he covered almost the distance of all his runs on 2019.

Airdots, tray on stove, Esther worship, Samuel’s craft

YowCH bought Xiaomi Air-dots, much cheaper than Apple Airpods, for $28. Works well. Given to Joseph.

20 June, we saw the Church Youth Service worship with Esther playing guitar.

YowCH made a flat tray to put on the stove, this is very useful to temporarily place the cooking utensils like the spade, chopsticks or tongs.

On Monday 22 June, the whole family went out for school and work.

Samuel had some free time at home, he did some craft which YowCH bought from EZbuy or Lazada.

KFC worship, Odyssey fuel economy, face shields

We recorded another worship session for KFC (Junior Sunday School) on 9 June 2020. Due to urgency, only YowCH, Esther and Joseph, with David recording the video.

A check on the car, we managed to drive 603km on 1 tank of fuel before refueling, about 11.0km/L, in May-June, as the traffic was very light during the Covid-19 Circuit Breaker period. The meter is not too accurate.

Joseph and Samuel received face-shields from school.

YowCH instructed Samuel to read some Chinese, and he just fell asleep shortly after.

Samuel received a care-pack from the school day-care centre (YMCA). Came with Maggi tom-yum.

On Sunday 14 June, Samuel was very enthusiastic in worship.
