Church Junior Camp Cook-out, Lego Shell-Ferrari

On Sunday evening, 18 Nov, YowCH conducted the Cook-out session for Church Junior Camp (16 to 19 Nov), which is the Sunday Dinner for those staying overnight (Primary 4 and 5 children). The menu was Mothballs Earthworms and Garden Mess. Actually, they are fishball/meatball noodles and mixed vege with pork and eggs.

The children with some help and guidance from youths and young adults, cooked their own meals in mess-tins and most of them produced very tasty food.

Esther specialised in frying eggs with vege and pork, very tasty.

David did not cook (he is not yet Primary 4) but he was really helpful.

Grace helped with the session and so did Joseph.

We all had a great time at church for this cook-out and it is now strongly suggested for future junior camps.

Oh, we managed to collect all 7 packs of the Shell-Ferrari Lego special limited edition sets (1 truck, 5 cars and 1 set of minifigs):

Big thanks to Grace’s colleague who pumps Shell for getting the cars and to Grace’s parents who got us the set of minifigs.

Esther singing and back to ballet, starting in-line skates

Today Esther sang for the Church 55th Anniversary Dinner promotion in 1st and 2nd English and the Chinese services. It was great, as Enoch and Han Wei were playing the violin very well. The tune was “O sole mio” (Elvis sang it as “It’s now or never”) and the words were written by Hsiao Yen for this promotional song. Very well received by church members.

Grace and YowCH have also been thinking of sending Esther and David for in-line skates training this coming school holidays, with some courses offered with skates and some without. By God’s great timing, Kelvin offered us 3 pairs of old children skates and we took them up at a token price. Esther and David had about 2 hours run on them, and they are able to get around! Looks like we can save the money on the course!

Today, Esther also returns to the ballet class after absence of almost 3 months due to the toe fracture from the cycling accident in August.

Church Family Day at East Coast Park

Our church organised Family Day at East Coast Park and we brought along YowCH’s parents to the beach for some fun. We also brought along our bicycles to cycle with friends.

Mum actually took the bike out for a ride.

We woke very early to prepare eggs for sandwiches and reached ECP at about 8:00am.

At 8:45am, the bus from church arrived and the events of songs, games and activities started.

Here’s Joseph cycling, and David playing games at the games stations.

Esther went cycling with Hannah and she had a rather nasty accidental fall.

We left at about 10:30am after Lynette helped bring Grace, Esther and Hannah to KK Hospital and YowCH packed up with parents and the boys. Here’s the page for Esther’s injury.

Hannah and Casimir’s wedding

[Update added below on 8 July 2012]

YowCH does not take wedding photos since about 5 years ago, except for his sister Loon. But Steven (a good friend from church) called to ask to take photos for his daughter, Hannah’s wedding, so, with trembling-hands and shortness-of-breath, photos were taken.

The service was held at St Teresa, Kampong Bahru Road, a rather classical Catholic church.

This should be the last official wedding photography job.

Updated 8 July 2012:
The next day, lunch was at Goodwood Park Hotel.

Nice food, particularly the renowned durian puffs.

Ramly burger & BBQ send-off for Sam and HL

Samuel and Hwee Leng will be relocating to Melbourne soon, so eFG had a BBQ party at HK and SW’s place on the evening of 30 June 2012. We contributed Ramly burgers.

You can see the oil squeezed out from the patties comes to one soup bowlful for 48 pieces of patties!

David and Esther were both helpful in the preparation.

We reached Cashew Heights at about 5:50pm after picking Grace from her work at 5:30pm.

HH and HK started the BBQ fire earlier. Every family brought something to share.

Thank God for the time we spend with our friends under good weather over very nice nice food.

Trip to PJ and Church Camp 2012

We drove to PJ on 2 June 2012 and went for Church Camp from 4 to 8 June 2012 at Putrajaya. We then returned to Singapore with YowCH’s parents on 11 June 2012.

Church Camp update

We had a great time at Church Camp, from 4 to 8 June 2012. This year it is at Pullman Hotel, Putrajaya, the new administrative capital of Malaysia, about 45mins drive from KL (or 30mins from YowCH’s parent’s home).

Here are a few photos first, the dedicated page will be up later.

Cycling at ECP with eFG for David’s BD

Today is David’s birthday, he is now 8.

We went to East Coast Park with eFG for a morning of cycling fun. We met up with families of Quincy, Samuel Lim, Alvin, Hong Kian and Rachel. David invited along his best friend, Seva. You can’t miss Seva, he is blond (Ukrainian).

After a while of cycling, we had a break at Carl’s Junior.

But Grace, Joseph, David and Seva was not with the group, they were at base camp near Raintree Cove. David was playing with Seva at the breakwater.

Joseph was very keen on cycling, too.

This is the ‘car’ that the ‘baby’ gang drove, what the older children call the ‘green snail’.

After cycling, we had lunch with Seva and his dad at Burger King.

We thank God for good weather and fun time with friends. David received some presents from Seva (the bag and bottle resembles that which Seva is using).

Church performance, Botanic Garden outing and eFG lunch

Esther, David and Joseph performed two songs in church last Sunday for Workers’ Appreciation Day.

Today is Hari Raya holiday, and church organised an outing to the Botanic Garden, and this is the eFG canvas:

That’s Joseph and Miriam across a rock with a hole like Gnomeo and Juliet:

This photo is about the church group photo:

And here is eFG (except Quincy, Wynn and Jonah who left earlier):

After the outing, we had lunch at Rumah Tinggi Goldhill Chicken Rice:

The children had fun running about after lunch, and a neighbour boy joined them.

Church Camp, Penang and PJ trip

We have added our holiday and church camp photos in to the following two pages:

Church Camp in Penang

Holiday in PJ

Church Camp was from 13 to 17 June 2011. We drove from Singapore to PJ on 12 June 3:30am to 6:30am (yes, that was pretty fast), spent one night in PJ then drove to Penang on 13 June 5:40am, stopped by Ipoh for breakfast at 7:45am and reached The Gurney hotel, Penang at 10:45am.

After camp ended at noon of 17 June, we visited Fort Cornwallis, then drove back to PJ, starting at 2:45pm, with a rest stop at Ipoh around 4:40pm to 5:20pm, and reaching PJ home at 7:30pm. Then, we spent Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday in PJ with family and friends. We left PJ at 6:00am on Monday 20 June, stopped at Yong Peng lay-by from 8:15am to 8:45am and reached home at 10:00am.

We covered 830km from Singapore to Penang, and the whole trip clocked 1723km.
