Later in the evening, YowCH, Esther and David prepared dinner for BCG as we hosted the cell group at our place.

Samuel visits GESPS, KTP 50th anniversary dinner

On Friday, 15 Sep 2019, Gan Eng Seng Primary School had orientation for the incoming Primary 1 student. Grace took leave and brought Joseph and Samuel to the event.

We bought uniform for Samuel. This is a new design, not for tucking in.

That evening, YowCH attended KTP’s 50th Anniversary Dinner at Grand Shanghai Restaurant. The theme was Old Shanghai, and many colleagues dressed to the theme.

Food we ate, YowCH’s meeting with Chinese delegates, Soju

Here are some photos of the food we ate:

On Friday, 26 July, YowCH had a meeting with some Chinese delegates from Vanke. Here’s the group photo and YowCH’s name plaque on the table. Hong Kian also attended the meeting.

Grace ordered soju online, and with discount. Got these 10 at $85.00, usual would be about $150.00.

A rainbow, Samuel assembling stools, Grace’s birthday sewing table

YowCH saw a rainbow from his office window back on 5 July 2019.

We bought some stools to put in YowCH’s office as spare seats, Samuel helped assemble them.

YowCH bought a sewing table for Grace as her birthday present.

But a normal chair is a bit too short, so he bought a high stool, too.

YowCH’s work trip to Ipoh – 11 to 12 Mar 2019

YowCH had a 2-day work trip to Ipoh from 11 to 12 March 2019. The team took Scoot at 6:30am from Changi Terminal 2, and arrived at Ipoh at 7:30am.

The airport is very small, mostly for domestic flights. International flights only from Singapore and via Scoot or Airasia.

The local host (Projalma) drove the team (with contractor Eng Lee, client HDB, QP Er. Tham, and consultants YowCH) in a van and had dim-sum (halal) breakfast at Canning Garden.

After breakfast, we went to Projalma’s precast factory, and this company will be casting segments for a HDB bridge (YowCH’s project).

After a short briefing, the team visited the mould and the factory.

The Qualified Persons carried out inspections.

For lunch, we were taken to Little Elephant, a Western-Asian fusion restaurant. YowCH had nasi kerabu (blue rice).

The host order some snacks for sharing, and YowCH had sago for dessert.

After lunch, we continued with the site discussions on quality control, delivery schedules and other related matters.

At about 6:00pm, we arrived back in Ipoh town and checked into Weil Hotel, a new and very nice business hotel with affordable rates.

After a short rest, YowCH brought the team out to the old streets of Ipoh for dinner at Lou Wong bean-spout chicken.

After dinner, we walked the streets a little and returned to the hotel for some discussions and work.

Here are some night scenes of Ipoh taken from the hotel roof.

Next morning, we woke early to have breakfast at Sin Yoon Loong at 7:30am.

We continued to inspect the first segment, for readiness to be cast in concrete.

At about 11:00am, we left Projalma, and was taken to see the queer Kellie’s castle (YowCH suggested this). We just viewed the castle from the carpark.

After that, we drove a bit out of town to the pomelo farm to buy some fresh pomelos, before returning to the hotel to check-out.

Again views from the roof top, in daylight.

We checked out at 12:20pm and we were taken to lunch at Tuck Kee, Big Tree Foot.

After lunch, the hosts brought us to 362 Gunung Rapat Heong Peah, where the biscuits are still baked in traditional style earth ovens.

Then to the nearby Yee Hup shop for buying snacks.

And finally back to Ipoh old street for Lai Kee soya bean curd with ginger black sugar.

We reached the airport at 4:00pm, checked-in smoothly and the flight took off on time at 5:25pm.

However, the plane had to circle at Changi due to heavy traffic and we landed only at 6:45pm. YowCH reached home at 7:45pm, and brought along lots of goodies (mostly food).

Thank God for a smooth trip, work done during the trip, positive interactions between the team from the contractor, client and consultants and safety. Also thank God for all the good food in Ipoh.

SJ lion dance, car alignment, children in uniform, old photos

On Friday, 8 Feb, SJ had lion dance in the office.

YowCH also took the Odyssey to servicing on Friday, but Honda screwed-up the alignment. The next week, on 12 Feb, the car was sent to Kenny Alignment for a proper job, much better drive now.

Kenny also re-centered the steering wheel.

13 Feb 2019, the first day Esther wears her CJC uniform. 4 children in 4 levels – kindergarten, primary, secondary and junior college.

We dug up two old photos of ourselves, taken back in 1995. That’s 24 years ago.

YowCH’s runs improved, wedding of YowCH’s colleague

YowCH’s runs improved from August, he can now cover 2.4km in 12 minutes, which is the Singapore IPPT grade A for his age. Not wanting to miss the regular training, he ran even during a rainy Saturday on 8 Sep, wearing his new compression tights (from Uniqlo).

After the run, we went to YowCH’s colleague’s wedding at Thomson Road Baptist Church. the service was conducted in Indonesian and English. David did not attend as he was in a stay-over with his church friends.

After the post-wedding lunch, we went to church, and after church, YowCH went to the same colleague’s wedding dinner while the family had dinner at Sorrento and then went home.

YowCH travel to KL, Esther NAPFA results

YowCH had to spend two days in KL for tender interviews for the Tugu Park project. He stayed at The Boulevard hotel, which is right next to the KL office building in Mid Valley. He reached KL on Monday night (9 July) and left on Wednesday night (11 July).

Managed to catch a morning swim before going to the meeting.

YowCH visited the KTP KL office which has moved into the SJ office.

Esther received a prize T-shirt as top performer for NAPFA test (Physical Fitness), scoring max grades in all 6 categories. The medal is for the most number of inclined pull-ups in this batch.

Mifold child seat, KKH Care Tin and YowCH giving cajon lessons

With renewal of the Automobile Association of Singapore membership, YowCH got the Mifold (and carry bag) for free. It is an alternate ‘booster’ seat which lowers the seat belt to fit a child.

Samuel likes it, it is small and convenient, and easy to set-up. We are still using the normal child seat, this is for taxi and travel use.

Grace received a KKH Care Tin on 7 June as part of the 160th anniversary of KKH. It has lots of snacks in it.

For two weekends over the school holidays period (2 and 9 June), YowCH conducted cajon lessons for the Church junior classes on Saturdays (instead of the Sunday School lessons). He had help from young church friends.

The third and last lesson will be on 23 June.

Weekend update: YowCH at JTC50, Rumah Tinggi community lunch, West Fest set-up

Weekend update:

YowCH represented SJ Urban Group (his boss was away on leave) to the JTC 50th anniversary dinner at Shangri-la Hotel on Friday night. The guest-of-honour was PM Lee. yowCH was seated with friends in the industry and hosted by a JTC director.

On Saturday, we had a community lunch at Block 36 Jalan Rumah Tinggi with our neighbours. Simple food and some interactions with our neighbours.

On Sunday, we went out for soccer, but it was cancelled due to bad weather, so YowCH, David and Joseph headed to Church to help with the putting up of the West Fest backdrop in the Grace Hall.

As we drove home, we saw our Isis (SLF1912M) on the road for the first time since we sold the car more than 1.5 years ago.
