Added pages of Macritchie hike & TYLin Sg Buloh trip

Just added a page for the father-son bonding hike at Macritchie on 2 Feb 2008 here. Shortly after CNY, TYLin organised a trip to Sungei Buloh. Grace, Esther, David and YowCH had a great time there with friends from TYLin.

TYLin durian trip, Lims & Yows Singapore Flyer trip and TYLin Southern Ridges walk

Wow, many activities in the last few weeks to update; starting with the TYLin Staff Club organised Durian Trip to Johore on 12 July 2008, then a trip to the Singapore Flyer with the Lims on 27 July 2008 and then a TYLin Staff Club organised walk on the Southern Ridge from Telok Blangah Rise to HortPark passing the Henderson Wave and the Alexandra Arch.

Grace was excluded from the Southern Ridge walk, as she is having vericose veins problems, and should not walk too much.

More details to follow when we have the time to upload the photos.

With Mediacorp’s HD5 channel available on Starhub for free, we subscribed to Starhub on 7 Aug 08 and bought the Samsung Series 4 32″ LCD TV. Both the Starhub HD set-top box and the TV were delivered on 8 Aug 2008 afternoon, just in time to enjoy the Beijing Olympics 2008 opening ceremony on HD and the projector with the EFG gang!

KKH Family Day at Zoo

Grace’s workplace, KK Hospital, had their Family Day at the zoo today. We made our way there after church and reached about 11:15am. At zoo, we met up with Perly and brought her in together. After a short queue to collect the provided lunch (KFC) we proceeded to roam the zoo until about 4:15pm and left for home.

We were all pretty tired (I didn’t sleep well thanks to lots of office work, and Grace is 4 months pregnant). But we did have a good time looking at preserved pangolin, preserved hedgehog, a live small bearded dragon, followed the monkey feeding, the children fed the giant arapaima fish, watched the polar bear feeding.

Hong Kong – Macao trip report

This year’s TYLin’s company trip was to Hong Kong – Macao from 17 to 20 May. We had a good time, but very tiring. A short itenerary report:

  • 17 May – arrival after 4 hours of flight, we woke up at 3:00am to meet at Changi Airport at 4:30am, and to catch the 6:30am flight by JetStar to Hong Kong. Then it is city tour by bus in the afternoon, we visited Aberdeen, Convention Centre, 1/2-way to The Peak, Repulse Bay and TSL Jeweleries. The night was free & easy and we walked Kowloon and had dinner with some colleagues at a local restaurant.
  • 18 May – Free & easy day, we took MTR to Disneyland with 9 others, while the rest went on their own sight-seeing or shopping. Hot day, but better than rain. We arrived at Disneyland at 9:30am, and waited for the opening at 10:00am. Esther was sick (fever and vomited) in the morning and had to miss out on two rides, but thank God she recovered by noon. We managed to watch all the shows and took all the rides we had planned, except for the High School Musical show which was postponed. By 6:00pm, David was so tired he slept through the Winnie the Pooh ride. We stayed on for the final fireworks at 8:00pm, and took a taxi back to hotel at 8:30pm. Dinner was at Charlie Brown Cafe.
  • 19 May – Took ferry over to Macao after lousy dim-sum breakfast at a restaurant. Free & easy at Macau but raining cats and dogs, so we spent the afternoon in The Venetian, then took taxi back to hotel, when we bumped in to the gang that went over to Zhuhai for shopping. We then had a very hearty dinner at a local restaurant, A Vencedora. After that we walked back to the hotel.
  • 20 May – City tour by bus from 10:00am, but still raining. Had some intermitent good weather between the rains at some tourist attractions. We visited the Kun Iam statue, A-ma Temple, St. Paul’s Cathedral and Macao Tower. Then, we flew back to Singapore by JetStar at 6:30pm and arrived about 10:30pm.
While it was hectic, tiring and dampened by the rain, we had a good time as a family, and interacting with my colleagues. Also, this shall be a ‘last’ trip for a long time to come, as Grace is now 3 months pregnant. Photos and trip details posted here.
