Dinner with friends, Grace’s birthday cake

We had dinner with the Lims, Leongs and Ngs at some Bukit Panjang back-street seafood restaurant Hup Choon at Upper Bukit Timah Road, looks very Malaysian. But we first dropped all the children at the Lims’ place first where they had pasta dinner followed by a movie and play time.

Our menu included salt-baked crab, curry fish head, egg-steamed crab and herbal chicken among others.

When we returned to the Lims’ place, we got a surprise party for Grace’s birthday (yesterday). Very nice cake.

Fun with Ngs and Leongs

Today is Grace’s birthday, we spent the day playing with the Ngs and Leongs.

Firstly, cycling (and gliding for the younger ones) and rounders.

Then, Mega Pizza for lunch.

After lunch, Esther went to school for National Day Parade rehearsal (as audience). The rest played football and chased bubbles.

Weekend: terrapin light, crepes, soccer, Ngs visit

Firstly, we got a rather necessary UV-A light for the terrapins, $50.00 for $3.00 animals:

To make it complete, we need UV-B, too, and we are still looking. Not exactly low maintenance pets.

On Saturday, we had crepes at Out-of-the-Pan at Raffles City. We remembered having crepes with Esther when she was an infant, and went there for a very late 3:00pm lunch.

Back to soccer training on Sunday afternoons after the school holidays break which was also affected by the haze. David is wearing his new boots bought in PJ.

Nate joined us, too.

Joseph was ok during training, but went ‘tired’ during the last 30 minutes of friendly match.

YowCH was wearing his new boots, too, from PJ cheap sale.

In the evening, the Ngs came over and we had pizza (thanks, Alison) and watched Astro-Boy.

Sending the Lims off, Esther’s birthday dinner

Samuel, Hwee Leng and their 5 children left for Melbourne on 1 June 2013 on a 23:55 flight. Yows and Lims were at the airport to send them off.

Today, we had dinner at MOF Tiong Bahru Plaza for Esther’s birthday. Mum, dad and Gene were with us for this Japanese meal.

Fun with the Lims

We had a day off for Vesak Day holiday, and we spent the afternoon with the Lims cycling and playing at a playground, after a hearty Dim Sum lunch at Vivocity with them.

eFG CNY dinner

We had a CNY dinner with eFG friends at the Leongs’ place on 15 Feb 2013. We had with us two other families of friends.

There was lo-hei again, of course.

The food was fantastic, lo-hei, some packed dishes and porridge from HH’s mum:

And Q’s waxed meat rice, fried flour sticks (油炸鬼), chicken wings, waxed meat fried rice.

We thank God for the fellowship and the great food for dinner.

Chinese New Year 2013

We left Singapore on 7 Feb for PJ and returned to Singapore on 12 Feb for CNY. We visited T.Y.Lin KL office, KL Tower, Chee Kean and Ming Meng, Chee Kean’s parents, the Chims, PQ’s parents in Kajang, Daren’s mother, Uncle in Kepong, and upon return to Singapore, Kuan Pow and Patricia. We met our cousins Lims, Loos and Phans, Aunty from Batu Arang, and friends Sean, Roger and Chow from TYLin, Thean Seong, Sri and Chin Bin. We also celebrated YowCH’s dad’s 68th birthday. And we ate very very much.

Chee Kean visits, car solar fan, Joseph on Y-glider

Chee Kean came over to Singapore for the Standard-Chartered Marathon on 2 Dec. He completed within time to claim a finisher T-shirt and medal. The night before his run, he coached Joseph to start off on 2 wheels on his bike.

Chee Kean also brought along an item ordered on-line by YowCH (Malaysian internet sale), a solar powered fan for car cabin ventilation when parked in the sun.

Under direct sunlight, the fan works and quite effectively reduce the stuffy air when parked under the sun for long period.

Joseph received from Sze Wee and Hong Kian a Y-Glider for his birthday, you can see it in action here:

This was at West Coast Park while David (number 40) was having his soccer training session.

Joseph also went with Esther on in-line skates.

Esther went 2 rounds (about 1km each round), Joseph 1 round on skates and 1 round on Y-Glider, Grace 1 round on skates and YowCH 2 rounds on skates.

Hannah visits, David at soccer training

After church, we had Hannah over at our place, and Esther shared a nice session of shampoo making with her.

After that, David went for the second session of soccer training, this time with his new boots, jersey and shorts. He played quite well.

The girls (Grace, Esther and Hannah) went for a swim at the pool next door during soccer training. They got to use the shampoo they made right after swimming.

Hannah and Casimir’s wedding

[Update added below on 8 July 2012]

YowCH does not take wedding photos since about 5 years ago, except for his sister Loon. But Steven (a good friend from church) called to ask to take photos for his daughter, Hannah’s wedding, so, with trembling-hands and shortness-of-breath, photos were taken.

The service was held at St Teresa, Kampong Bahru Road, a rather classical Catholic church.

This should be the last official wedding photography job.

Updated 8 July 2012:
The next day, lunch was at Goodwood Park Hotel.

Nice food, particularly the renowned durian puffs.
