9km hike at Macritchie

YowCH brought Esther, David and Joseph, together with friends Isaiah and Nathaniel to hike at Macritchie, covering both the Tree-top Walk and the Jelutong Tower this morning. Please click on the photos below to get to the page:

Dinner with Tans at Fat Boy’s

After church, we had dinner with the Tans at Fat Boy’s (Pasir Panjang Road), with really huge and tasty burgers.

Joseph can make the Fat Boy’s angry face:

Soccer year-end BBQ party

The soccer training group decided to have a Year-end BBQ party. YowCH was tasked with ordering food. Grace helped make the selections and we had a great time with the families of the soccer boys and girls.

Training was held 4:00pm to 6:00pm as usual, and the BBQ food came at about 4:15pm. YowCH then set-up the fire with some help from friends and Esther, and by 6:00pm, we were going full swing and eating. Esther most excited and helpful in cooking the food.

Ben was sorting out and preparing the new jerseys for next year.

We had a really great time, as this also marked the last training at this field, as the field will be closed by 2014.

The weekend before Christmas

On Thursday, Esther and David made some cornflakes cookies. Ingredients includes cornflakes, butter, raisins, cashew nuts and honey.

Feedback from a friend: better than Garrett’s pop-corn!

On Saturday, we had eFG Christmas gathering over lunch. Yows brought roasted pork (thanks to Grace’s mum), cornflake cookies, tomato juice (for Bloody Mary) and 5L of Golden Ale from Brewerkz (the last unopened keg from Samuel’s parties).

Lots of very nice food.

Fellowship was great, we sang Christmas songs with piano and violin accompaniment.

After the lunch, we went to church for the final rehearsal, followed by Esther’s performance with the Church Juniors choir at West Coast Plaza, singing Christmas songs.

Esther was also playing the ukulele for the final medley of songs.

Updated 23 Dec 2013:
On Sunday, we got to church in the morning, then stayed on for the carolling practice from 12:30pm to 3:30pm, and then continued to the children choir practice at 4:00pm ending with the West Coast Plaza performance from 6:00pm to 6:30pm (similar to Saturday).

We then drove over to W-Singapore hotel at Sentosa Cove and met up with YowCH’s cousin, the Loos. We had dinner at the one of the eateries there, where we had Belgium food at “Brussels Sprouts”. After dinner, we spent a little time in the hotel room and got home at 11:00pm.

Samuel’s 1st month parties at home

We threw a party for YowCH’s office, this time only for close friends and direct colleagues, on Friday evening, 29 Nov.

Mum, dad and Gene also came.

We had great food from Stamford Catering, and drinks-menu. We also served liquors and Esther was our bartender.

On Saturday afternoon, 30 Nov, we had another party for Grace’s KKH friends (current and previous), some relatives (Grace’s cousin, YowCH’s sister), eFG and YowCH’s old ASEAN scholar friends from Temasek JC.

At a wedding

We attended Matthan and Yi Ling’s wedding at church. Joseph served as the pageboy, bearing the ring. He did a very nice job of it.

Esther helped with the opening of the doors, also did a good job.

David was also helpful, he was in-charged of lighting the candles of the bride’s maids, but unfortunately, the lighter broke, and some adults ran to get the back-up lighter and lit those candles very urgently instead. Nevertheless, he was on standby for any candle that might be snuffed.
Samuel sat through the entire 2-hour ceremony without crying, mostly carried by David who took great care of him, and by YowCH.

Here’s a post-event photo of us.

And this is a photo of the ring-bearer, door-opener and the bride and groom.

Samuel’s 1st month party at T.Y.Lin

Today, we celebrated Samuel’s first month with a party at T.Y.Lin (the first of several such parties). We got nice pastries and tarts from Prima Deli, soft drinks and 4 mini-kegs (5L each) of Golden Ale from Brewerkz.

Samuel was very happy throughout, and YowCH’s colleagues passed him around!

However, there was plenty of leftover food and drinks. Only about 8L of beer consumed although we opened 3 kegs. So we called in some friends to help drink up the remaining 7L. There was great fellowship, but the beer still remaining another 3L or so.

More parties next week.

2 weddings in 2 countries, Joseph using chopsticks

We had two weddings in 2 countries on Saturday, 14 Sept.

Lunch at Sheraton from 1:00pm to 4:00pm for Pearly’s wedding (Grace’s ex-colleague and good friend).

At this wedding, we started teaching Joseph chopsticks. And a surprising event happened, David’s glass just cracked on the edge while he was drinking! haha.

After the lunch, we drove to Pontian straight, but was caught in the check-point jam spending 30 mins on Singapore side and 90 mins on Malaysia side. We reached Pontian at 7:15 and had to join the Pontian local jam for another 20 mins, reaching the restaurant at 7:40pm. Thank God, we were safe, and the ‘valet’ gave us the space in front of the restaurant next to the wedding car.

This is the wedding of Grace’s cousin (youngest daughter of her eldest uncle).

The food was fantastic. After dinner, we sat at 4th Aunty’s house for a while, left Pontian at 11:00pm driving in convoy with mum and dad, and reached home at 12:15am.

Here, you can see Joseph having mastered the chopsticks, picking up peas! Now he needs to work on strength.

Baby 4′s car-seat and pram from US

Big thanks to the Ngs for lending us their car-seat and pram (a very nice Graco Snugride 30), and a bigger thanks for their fantastic arrangement to send it back via Mrs Diana Ang (church friend) who was in San Francisco. We picked Diana and the car-seat/pram from airport on 2 Sept 2013 (01:00).

The seat looks big, we have not tried it in the Isis yet, but it should fit.

This is the seat and the pram-frame (Snugrider Elite). Assembly was quite straight-forward, with some help from Joseph.

Saturday activities

Grace went to work and YowCH brought the children to Ricardo to service the car.

After servicing the car, YowCH went to work (with the children), then lunch and groceries shopping. Upon reaching home, we prepared 12 Ramly burgers for this evening’s BBQ. Esther and David were of great help, and they even did the laundry.

After picking up Grace, we went to the Leongs’ place and met up with the Lims, and the Ngs for BBQ.

Thank God for good weather and great fellowship time.
