YowCH vaccine, dinner with Lims, Esther admission to SIT

YowCH took his first dose of Moderna Covid-19 vaccine on 3 May.

Got some freebies.

We invited the Lims over for Korean BBQ dinner, as Hong Kian will be leaving for his long posting in China soon. YowCH could prepare this dinner as he was on leave. David made Japanese garlic fried rice.

We had so much food!

Then the grease in the grill plate water-ring caught fire!

After dinner, we had a nice cake brought by the Lims to celebrate the upcoming birthdays of YowCH and Hong Kian.

The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) accepted Esther for Physiotherapy. We rejoice and thank God!

Our dinner on 4 May.

YowCH and Grace went out for dinner on Wednesday, 5 May. This was after visiting a friend’s mother’s wake. Hinode is at Lavender very near Singapore Casket.

Weekend updates – lunch with Leongs, soccer restart

We have this duster, and we used for quite a while. Good time to change it.

YowCH is still recovering from the fracture of the shin, but looks like the muscles on the right leg has gone down already.

We visited Yan’s family and had dimsum which Yan ordered. We met to eat together to celebrate mom’s birthday.

On Sunday, Grace and YowCH having breakfast while Samuel attended his Chines tuition class.

We joined the Leongs at their home for lunch.

Nice steak! Perfectly cooked by Hoi Hoong.

Used a gas torch to flame the beef! We need to get a torch for ourselves.

While the family continued their time at the Leongs, YowCH took Samuel to the West Coast Wolves soccer practice at Clementi Stadium, the first since March 2020 due to Covid.

Samuel was very enthusiastic about the training, even in a very hot afternoon.

Holy weekend, food, Esther’s 2nd vaccine shot, Justice League

YowCH had a dinner with contractor friends from Ssangyong at Brewerks on 1 April 2021, and bought some tapao beer. Brewerks is still a nice dining place by the river.

On Good Friday, we had lunch at West Coast Plaza, Upin Sichuan Hotpot.

For dinner, we invited the Ngs over to our place for Korean BBQ. We had good fellowship and fun over the food. The chicken hearts were well loved!

On Saturday, we had the Yongs over for dinner, again BBQ but we had satay instead.

For dessert, we had nice ice-cream!

On Easter Sunday, Grace got a nice cake for Samuel as a snack.

We met Grace’s parents and Gene for lunch at Sorrento.

Esther took her second Covid vaccination injection in the afternoon.

We ordered Shake Shack burgers for dinner, while we watched Justice League (Snyder) on our big-screen.

Chye Joo CNY, Rainbow Centre CNY, Esther’s A-levels, BCG CNY

Chye Joo has a very festive CNY, with ‘start work hong bao’ for everyone:

The a nice lion dance (permit from Government):

Lion at YowCH’s seat:

The company provided packed lunch:

And later, order some pizzas and fried chicken for afternoon snacks.

Esther had pizza at Rainbow Centre for CNY!

Esther’s A level results were released on 19 Feb 2021, she got BCCCD.

Beacon CG had a small CNY gathering at Patrick’s place. We made siew yuk 2 nights before and cooked the sea cucumber stew the night before.

We also bought the stuff for the lou-sang.

Our friends made nice chapatti and humus, and a very different type of niangao (very nice).

Some photos of YowCH doing his regular 2x 6.0km weekly.

YowCH site, BCG ladies dinner

On 21 Dec, YowCH visited the North-south Corridor N111 site at work.

In the evening, the BCG ladies met at our place for dinner.

YowCH and the boys went to ARC for sushi dinner. Also went to 3 different NTUC to get tong yuen, but couldn’t get any as it is mid-winter today. Finally settled for the small ones.

The small tong yuen, shared with the BCG ladies.

And the highly alcoholic (but very nice) fruit cake.

YowCH tennis elbow, dinner with Lims

Lunch at Thai Kway Chap (Holland Village) with Esther on 1 Sep 2020.

YowCH suffered from tennis elbow, probably due to carrying heavy loads or accident during gym.

YowCH continues his runs, night or rain.

With weeks to O-levels, David started working hard, studying while having breakfast.

Brinda’s for lunch.

On 6 Sep 2020, we invited the Lims over for wonton mee dinner.

Tong-yuen and games after dinner.

Covid-19 “Circuit Breaker” situation end-May

Samuel’s church meeting, big group on Zoom.

We watched the Michael Bay Transformers movies, and took out the toys for Samuel to have some fun.

We did some home improvement works (in this case adding a shelf to Esther’s table), but the drill spoilt. YowCH opened it and found that the problem is the electrical direction switch, with the forward drive spoilt and the drill only works in reverse. So YowCH shifted teh wires around to make teh drill work in forawrd, but no more reverse now. Replacement part is too expensive and not worth the money.

YowCH received a cheque from Prudential for $500.00, benefits for having served Quarantine Order due to Covid. Good pocket money!

Another BCG meeting online.

The whole family recorded another church choir session (David was conducting and doing the filming on the camera). We had 3 good takes, but about 12 bad starts, mostly with us laughing due due to Samuel’s behaviour.

Esther also contributed to the church Youth Service worship.

Samuel doing church activities online.

We contacted our friends, the Lims, in Melbourne, Australia, to catch up with them in this Covid period.

We still drove the Odyssey around, mostly sending and picking Grace as she is working daily at KKH. But the roads were quite empty and we had great fuel efficiency, covering more than 600km in 1 tank (55L) of petrol!

Things in the house keeps needing maintenance, the plug point plastic broke, and YowCH had to buy the part (the box against the wall) to replace it. The face was changed about a year ago.

YowCH bought a sound mixer for Esther, to let her have better mixing controls for the worship and other musical recordings.

Joseph built his Gundam robot.

YowCH had to visit his construction site prior to the planned worksites re-opening on 2 June.

We picked up an old light cover that a neighbour thrown away, and it serves well as a Bey Blade arena.

Grace and YowCH went out to buy some food, and picked up the government-issued “improved” masks on 30 May.

Weekend food and swim

We had dinner with the Lims on Saturday night (15th of CNY) at Putien Vivocity. Due to COVID-19, the carpark was rather empty and the restaurants had no queue.

The pool on Sunday was also very empty.

Our lunch after swim with Cheng Siang and coaches Francis and Tobby.

And dinner at Jollibee.

YowCH HBP, hi-fi replaced, Beacon FG lo-hei

YowCH’s high blood pressure medication increased after 14 days with review from his doctor. He now take Micardis which is the same Telmisartan 40mg as before, but with Hydrochrolothiazide 12.5mg added. Started on 5 Feb 2020.

YowCH ordered a Marantz SR5013 receiver/amplifier from Lazada last week. The model is a few years old and shops doesn’t seem to carry it. This is to replace the Denon 1708 which we have been using since start of 2008, and is very sickly already. This Marantz SR5013 still has analogue 7.1 input, which is great for playing back SACD.

Then we found out that the Velodyne CHT8R sub-woofer had no sound, so YowCH brought it to be checked and found that the circuit board is burnt, repair is $250 and not guaranteed to work, so we bought another sub-woofer, the Mirage MM8 with 3 speakers. Nice bass sound from a small sub-woofer, and with the low-frequency sounds of movies, our windows and walls rattle!

Grace was not working on Thursday, 6 Feb, so she made a caramel cheese cake for Beacon FG. We had our new-year meeting on Friday night, 7 Feb, where we tossed the lo-hei (also prepared by us, with abalone instead of fish).

Here’s a photo of Grace swimming. She has been swimming 20 laps a week recently.

KTP CNY lunch, BCG at Yows’ home

YowCH’s company, KTP, had a Chinese New Year lunch on Friday 17 Jan 2020.

Later in the evening, YowCH, Esther and David prepared dinner for BCG as we hosted the cell group at our place.

Some miscellaneous stuff:
Wi-fi biscuit:

Pomelo skin helmet for Samuel:
