Esther and David’s Advent Lego sets

We bought the Advent Lego sets, City for Esther and Pirates for David, and they opened each of the the 24 individual windows from 1 Dec to 24 Dec, one a day (except the days they were not home). Each window contained a figure for assembly and play, and on the 24 DEc, they had the whole sets completed:

They had good discipline to open one at a time (never rushing to open the next) and also patiently waiting for the surprise item in the next window.

Netbook for Grace

After much thinking and planning, with strong recommendation from Chee Kean, we bought an Acer AspireOne netbook (white) for Grace’s use on 20 Dec 2009. Costs $599.00, runs on Win7 Starter and Android, with free Targus travel mouse from Challenger.

Trip to PJ, YowCH’s parents visit

We took a trip to PJ from 12 to 16 December; Grace had that week off and YowCH needed to clear leave.

Trip diary is here.

When we returned to Singapore, YowCH’s parents came along, and Loon joined us later on 18 Dec by bus.

Grace’s parents prepared a very sumptious dinner at Moh Guan on the day we arrived:

Over the weekend, we spent some time at Yan and Ping Quen’s place, with some mahjong action, especially for the ladies.

Very nice to have spent two weekends with YowCH’s parents. Loon and parents left by early flight on Tuesday morning (22 Dec, 7:30am).

Joseph’s 1st swim, trip to Pontian

On 30 Nov morning, we brought Joseph to Delta Swimming Complex for a swim. Esther and David were having swimming lessons there at 9:00am. With our new underwater casing for the F200 camera, here are some photos:

After the swim, we had a fast breakfast at Moh Guan with Grace’s parents, then left for Pontian for a short 2-day holiday.

Esther and David swimming lessons

Esther and David started taking swimming lessons, being the school holidays now. The teacher is Jeffrey from Happy Fish and the lessons are conducted on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9:00am to 10:00am at Delta Swimming Complex (near our home, just a very short bus ride away).

Joseph (and family) had dinner with Yan and PQ at Lao Beijing, Novena Square for his 1st birthday. He’s happily holding on to the red-pack that he received as present.

We’ll be going back to Pontian coming Monday and Tuesday to visit Grace’s grandma, together with Grace’s parents. Before that, on Monday morning, Joseph will join E&D for a swim.

Joseph is 1 today

Praise the Lord, Joseph is 1-year-old today. He is really smiley and bubbly, and started liking to play rough with David and YowCH. Another favourite of his is hide-and-seek.

He has not started standing on his own yet, and prefers to crawl than to walk or cruise. He is also consistent in using some ‘words’ now. In the car, he sits in his baby-seat very nicely, often ‘talking’ to others in the car.

Joseph’s dedication to God, new PC at home

Joseph was dedicated to the LORD on Sunday, 8 Nov 2009 in church by Elder Andrew Chua. This is a photo of the family before service (thanks to Paul for helping take the photo):

[ADDED 15 Nov 2009]

Here’s a photo of the Ngs with Daniel and the Yows with Joseph.

And this is when we, the parents, pledge to bring up Joseph in Godly manner.

We have also started putting together a new PC last Sunday, 1 Nov 2009, in hope that the existing WinXP SP3 and installed software can just be run on the new platform. However, after struggling with Windows, drivers and software problems for 1 week, we moved onwards from WinXP and bought the newly released Windows7 and started a new installation on Saturday 7 Nov 2009, finally completed this morning (past midnight). There are still many software that must be installed to make the system fully workable. Total cost for new casing, power supply, mainboard, processor, 2GB RAM (we would probably up this to 4GB), 2 x 250GB harddrive, video card with DVI, VGA and HDMI, keyboard, mouse, 23″ full HD Samsung LCD monitor, web-cam and Windows7 Home is about $1300.

[ADDED 15 Nov 2009]
We added another 2GB of RAM and a new mic, the whole PC now $1400.

1st car waxing

Since getting the car half a year ago, we gave the Isis a good soap and then a wax yesterday (Saturday) at Moh Guan. Really tiring.

And then it rained heavily.

A small update

Wow, the last update was more than 1 month ago!

We were very busy at work and home. Esther is also going through her exams now.

Since Melbourne, we had not really gone about much, except for a wedding lunch in Skudai, Johor last Sunday.

Joseph will be 1 year old soon, he is now eating a lot and very interactive.

David is doing fine and starting to use more Mandarin and Cantonese.

Melbourne update 2

We are now waiting for departure flight at the SIA Lounge at Tullamarine Airport. 9 days of fun and travelling around Victoria, half the time with the kind hospitality of the Ngs. Thank God for a good holiday, safe travels, nice weather and lots of fun.

Trip updates soon in a special page.
