A short noontime swim

To escape the hoards of people on Saturday, we went swiming at noon time (actually 1pm to 2pm).

Joseph enjoyed the session more now that he is walking on his own.

That’s Esther and David underwater.

And we see Joseph being submerged in the pool by very cruel parents.

300m walk for Joseph

It may be surprising, but Joseph walked from where we parked the car in the multi-storey carpark back home all on his own two feet, carried only across the road once and walking one floor up the carpark stairs. That’s 300m or about a third of a km. All that in 15 mins, which is about 1.2km/h.

He even stopped over to greet the cats on the sidewalk, witnessed a rat crossing the path in front of him and waved goodbye to an old lady at our lift.

Just last week he wasn’t even walking on his own.

Joseph is toddling

At 15 months old, Joseph is now toddling.

He started trying to walk just after CNY on about 18 Feb. Last night, he covered long distances with some help from Esther and David:

Today, Joseph is able to walk unassisted for over 15m at each go, and steps right over the ‘threshold’ of our kitchen entrance.

Tiger New Year update

We welcome the year of the Tiger as both YowCH and Grace are tigers, too.

Look, the family has grown with Siu Hei’s arrival:

That’s the family in 2008 for comparison:

Esther’s earings, eFG Botanic Garden outing

On 3 Feb, Esther’s ears were pierced and she now wears a pair of nice deep blue ear-studs:

This morning, eFG had an outing to Botanic Garden and the children had lots of fun running around the Symphony Lake.

Trip to PJ for TYLin M’sia Dinner

We drove up to PJ on Saturday morning (30 Jan) from 6:30am arriving at PJ at 11:30am for lunch. then we went to TYLin Malaysia’s Annual Dinner at Sime Darby Convention Centre. The children had lots of fun with Zi Yen.

Sunday was spent with YowCH’s parents and sister Loon. We went shopping and then had dinner with the Lims (YowCH’s aunty’s family).

We left PJ at 6:30am and reached Singapore home again at 11:00am, just in time to send Esther to school after a comfortable lunch at home.

Another car!

We bought another car today, a red and white coupe. It’s a very small one seater for Joseph only.

It is a second hand item which we picked up from another family in Punggol, only 6 months old and very lightly used.

Cousin for Esther, David and Joseph

The baby boy of my sister was born today (12 Jan 2010) at about 6:30pm. Now Esther. David and Joseph have a cousin! His name is Yong Siu Hei 楊兆曦 (yáng zhào xī).

That’s the new family of three at Thomson Medical Centre:

New Year Spoiler

Not what you are thinking.

We bought a second-hand spoiler from a Singapore Toyota Club forum member for the Isis on 31 Dec 2009 and installed it today (2 Jan 2010). Improves the back-end view of the car and provides a tiny little shade to the rear windscreen, helpful for the noon-day glare.

We decided that the matt black by the previous owner seems quite a contrast yet nicely compatible with the rest of the plastic parts, so we keep it this way for now. If there is any reason to spray any other parts of the car (and we pray not!) we will probably get this sprayed silver, too.

Currently not so permanently mounted with 3M car exterior mounting tape; the official way to mount this is to drill holes into the car to screw it on!

Today is also the last of Esther’s and David’s 18 sessions of swimming lessons. Esther can now swim without float for short distances in a beginner’s breast-stroke (3 kicks, 1 pull, breathe), and David is perhaps 2 days from that.

9th Anniversary

YowCH and Grace was married nine years ago on 16 Dec 2000. Today, we had an anniversary dinner at Prego, Raffles City with the children, mum, dad and Gene.

We had a free cake for being a member of the hotel chain.
