We took a family photo today, all the Yows, 3 generations.
The sudden flash of afternoon rain also gave us a case of double rainbow!

Joseph’s new biker jacket
I can’t help it, when Joseph wears the jacket, he reminds me of the Ghost Rider.
Holiday at Cameron Highlands, PJ and Pontian
We had a short holiday at Cameron Highlands from 19 to 21 Dec 2011, and our trip is recorded in the page here:
After Cameron Highlands, we spent time with YowCH’s parents in PJ. We had time with relatives:
YowCH’s uncle and wife.
YowCH’s cousin and family, having pizza dinner at Marco’s.
Esther, David and Joseph helping the grandparents pluck the trees out of the pot.
We had time to go shopping at 1Utama, and sundry-buying at MegaHerbs and Giant, washed the car and had supper with Chee Kean.
Then, on 23 Dec, we drove through terrible rains in the afternoon to Pontian:
Grace’s uncle prepared very nice babi hutan (wild boar) meat for us.
And dinner by the seaside at Zhu Qiu Restaurant was fantastic.
We left Pontian after dinner at about 8:45pm and reached home in Singapore at about 10:15pm; thank God for clear traffic from Pontian to home in Singapore.
David’s bicycle
David had some practice on Esther’s bike, and learnt quite suddenly to cycle without training wheels. Actually, mum had to run beside him to be ‘supportive’ during his training.
As promised, we got him a bicycle on yesterday (on 5 Dec) when he demonstrated that he can cycle.
He can now make tight turns left or right, and rides smoothly.
Catapult
YowCH built a catapult when he was about 10. Using similar materials, Esther and David helped build another one:
The lump of Blutack flies about 1.0m, and given the catapult is about 10cm high, the range is about 10x the height. A real catapult would be about 10ft high, meaning this will throw a decent stone about 150ft. With higher rope tension and a stronger frame (glued instead of lashed with ropes), the range can effectively be 3 times more!

Today, Joseph turns 3!
Two nights ago, Joseph started packing goodies bags for his classmates, 23 of them!
We celebrated his birthday in school with a large strawberry ‘farm’ cake.
Esther and David were there, too, as it is now school holidays.

Later in the evening, YowCH did another round of burgers, this time to share with the Ngs (they are leaving for USA soon).
Only Nate and Hannah ate with us, we packed 3 more for Paul, Alison and Daniel.
The ugly truth about Ramly burger, you realy need to squeeze out the oil as you fry them, this bowl came from 10 patties, and YowCH did not even put any oil into the pan!
Mum’s burgers
After having a round of Ramly burgers last week, Mum made her own pork patties for burgers! It was great (just short of Worcestershire Sauce)!

We celebrated 4 eFG children’s birthdays together on Friday 18 Nov 2011: Daniel and Joseph (3) and Hannah and Sonja (6).

Ramly burger for dinner
It has been almost 10 years since YowCH make burgers (patties are from Ramly, of course, the best burgers), but we had one round of it on 16 Nov. You can see the sumptious spread here:
The chicken burger patties were slowly fried with LP Sauce and with the oil squeezed out as much as possible. Then, an egg with soya sauce and pepper is fried round, to wrap the patty together with some fried onions. Then, the burger was assembled with cucumbers, tomatoes, raw onions, patty in egg, cheese, mayonaise and ketchup. The buns were buttered and grilled.
The family certainly enjoyed the burgers, from young to old:
