David’s birthday food

For David’s 9th birthday on Sunday 24 March 2013, he chose to eat 4 “lau sar bao” 流沙包 (literally bread filled with flowing sand, actually filled with salted-egg yolk custard, sweet-salty tasting) for lunch, and Japanese Ramen for dinner. No cakes (very disappointing to Joseph)!

Trip to Taiwan

We took leave last week and had a 6-day holiday in Taiwan from 18 to 23 March 2013. We met YowCH’s cousin, Wei Lian, and had a great time having holiday together with his family.

Expecting Baby 4

We met the doctor at KKH on 13 March 2013 and confirmed that Baby 4 is on the way! This is after the previous miscarriage in August 2012. Estimated arrival of the baby is Nov 2013.

Here is the page for Baby 4.

Wall Tracks added

We got two more sets of Wall Tracks, one from Taipei and one from Malaysia. Just added them on today, now the tracks starts much higher and the car takes 20 seconds to run down the wall.

Refer here for the previous posting with the initial set-up.

Bird Park with Loos and family dinner

We visited the bird park on 23 Feb 2013 with the Loos from 8:30am until 2:00pm (including lunch). Click on the photos for the page.

Then, we met with Yan’s family and had a family dinner at Lao Beijing, Novena Square. That’s 15 of us.

We had lots of great food, including 3 trays of xiao-lung-bao (8 pieces each tray, Joseph called them “soupy guys”) and a Hong Kong style steamed soon-hock fish.

eFG CNY dinner

We had a CNY dinner with eFG friends at the Leongs’ place on 15 Feb 2013. We had with us two other families of friends.

There was lo-hei again, of course.

The food was fantastic, lo-hei, some packed dishes and porridge from HH’s mum:

And Q’s waxed meat rice, fried flour sticks (油炸鬼), chicken wings, waxed meat fried rice.

We thank God for the fellowship and the great food for dinner.

Chinese New Year 2013

We left Singapore on 7 Feb for PJ and returned to Singapore on 12 Feb for CNY. We visited T.Y.Lin KL office, KL Tower, Chee Kean and Ming Meng, Chee Kean’s parents, the Chims, PQ’s parents in Kajang, Daren’s mother, Uncle in Kepong, and upon return to Singapore, Kuan Pow and Patricia. We met our cousins Lims, Loos and Phans, Aunty from Batu Arang, and friends Sean, Roger and Chow from TYLin, Thean Seong, Sri and Chin Bin. We also celebrated YowCH’s dad’s 68th birthday. And we ate very very much.

Food places and Geo-trax set-up

We had a few rounds of eating-out at rather interesting places recently:

Monday, 28 Jan, dinner at Chuck Wagon (American grill), Portsdown Road:

We had escargot, lamb chops, pork ribs, fish and chips and chicken wings.

Friday, 1 Feb, dinner at Colbar (British grill), Whitchurch Road off-Portsdown Road:

We had sausage-egg-mushroom, fish and chips and grilled sole (flat fish).

Saturday, 2 Feb, lunch at Adam Road Hawker Centre:

We had nasi lemak and satay.

And today, we managed to design a set-up using all the Geo-trax tracks that we have!

This is a rather extensive set-up, and rather nice to see the trains snaking around.

Geo-trax trains

Thanks to Kum Yuen for bringing the 3 sets of trains back from USA, our train tracks set has moving trains again. Really fun!

Warning to all who own such battery operated toys – take out the batteries before storing or the batteries will leak and spoil the toy. Our original 4 sets of trains were all spoilt when batteries leaked and destroyed the circuit boards.

TYLin Malaysia annual dinner at Eastin PJ

TYLin Malaysia’s annual dinner was held at Eastin PJ, very near YowCH’s parents’ place. We drove up to PJ on Saturday 26 Jan 2013 at about 12:30pm after YowCH’s in-house training in the morning. We reached PJ home at 4:45pm (keeping mostly to 120km/h). Esther, David and Joseph had fun with Yen Yen and Yu Yu while YowCH and Grace prepared for the dinner.

We drove off from home at about 5:45pm and reached Eastin at 6:00pm for the dinner. We met Tina and James (Taiwan) and Dr Tang (China) in addition to the close friends in KL office. YowCH’s colleagues Yew Shin and Swee Tong were there, too.

Dinner started punctually at 7:00pm and ended at 10:30pm.

The next morning, Sunday 27 Jan 2013, we met Chee Kean and Ming Meng for dimsum breakfast in Taman Megah.

After breakfast, we went home. Kum Yuen and Josephine visited, bringing Grace’s dad’s books and our 3 sets of Geo-trax trains, which KY helped buy when he was in USA.

After lunch at home, we went out and met CCK and MM for coffee, then drove off to Singapore, keeping closely to the speed limit.

We reached Gelang Patah at 8:00pm and had KFC dinner, then bought some pepes (chicken otak-otak)

We reached home at 10:00pm. Thank God for good drives to and from PJ, fun time with family and friends, and a good dinner with TYL KL colleagues. A short but very fruitful trip.
