Large filter for terrapins, Samuel sitting

We got ourselves a larger tank, and with more water, the smaller pumps and filters can’t filter enough, so we got ourselves a much larger pump/filter for $22.50. Comes with charcoal pack for smell removal. And another 2 bunches of plants to decorate. You can’t see much as the water is rather murky.

Samuel is now able to sit for a short while and play, he really likes to sit.

Soccer League – WC vs. Taman Jurong

We played against Taman Jurong this morning. Both David and Joseph played well, and won both their groups (Under-8 and Under-10). YowCH coached the Under-8 team for this match.

Nice photos, taken by Esther.

Holiday trip to PJ, Ipoh and Tambun Lost World

We took a week-long break from 15 to 21 June 2014 to visit YowCH’s parents in PJ (while we dropped by Church Camp at Damansara). We then took a 3D-2N trip to Ipoh-Tambun for food, sight-seeing and to enjoy the Tambun Lost World Waterpark. Click on photos below to reach Page 1 of 2 pages:

Isis wiper, Samuel’s first meat

The Isis wiper has bad streaks and we changed to new silicone frameless pair. However, the blue silicone is NOT our choice. YowCH found this pair discarded in the carpark, apparently the previous owner ‘broke’ the clips off when he tried to install them. However, nothing was actually broken and a small ‘click’ got everything back together again. The sizes were about right and fits our Isis. David helped install them. Thank God for free wipers.

Samuel is no longer vegetarian. He had meatball porridge made by popo and he really enjoyed it.

Here’s a photo is Samuel sleeping, rather lean and long now, but still under-weight and under-size according to National charts.

A trip to the River Safari

We took leave today for a trip to the River Safari.

Happy birthday, Esther

Esther is 12 years old. We had a birthday dinner with parents and Gene at Sakae Sushi, Tiong Bahru Plaza. Crowded, hence the squeeze.

At home, she received her present with great joy – iPad mini!

Also a small cake from friends, which we placed a candle and sang the birthday song.

Bed bugs!

We had to disinfect all the beds in the house (Esther, David, Joseph and YowCH & Grace) due an infestation of bed bugs. We used both insecticide and we also bought bed bug spray. Thank God that it wasn’t a severe case and that Samuel’s bed is not affected. The bed sheets were rinsed in boiling water and washed.

Here’s a photo of the adult bed bugs against YowCH’s fountain pen.

9km hike at Macritchie

YowCH brought Esther, David and Joseph, together with friends Isaiah and Nathaniel to hike at Macritchie, covering both the Tree-top Walk and the Jelutong Tower this morning. Please click on the photos below to get to the page:

Joseph can cycle

Good news, Joseph is now a cyclist. He can go around unassisted and makes good turns and stops. Time to teach him traffic rules.

Esther and David took the time to practice slide-braking and tight turns, and to help guide Joseph. Each clocked max speed of 25km/h at this carpark. The full-face helmets look very fierce.

The three older children had a good time cycling around the carpark at the school near our flat.

Samuel enjoyed the shade and the fun, too. He sat nicely in the Aprica, not once crying!

Joseph gets a 2nd hand bicycle

The yellow bike that Joseph has been training on had so many crashes that the front wheel is off-alignment and wobbly. so we bought another 2nd hand bike for him on 14 May 2014. This Urata bike is normal (nothing special) and we got it at $45. The wrappers were still on the bike, but it is at least 3 years old given the rusty parts.

The first thing we did was to remove the unnecessary weights (basket, rack and plastic wraps) and then adjust the seat, handlebar, brakes and kick-stand.

The bike is not too bad, Joseph can ride it, and will continue his training on this. The yellow bike is now at Moh Guan, back-up training.
