Sam updates: Jacob Ballas Garden, karaoke, Lego, soccer

Samuel had a school trip to Jacob Ballas Garden on 2 August 2018. Grace and YowCH took leave and went along. Click on the photos below to go to the page:

After visiting the garden, we took Joseph from school and went for lunch and Karaoke at Star Vista.

Samuel is also able to assemble Lego for ages *+ although he is not yet 5.

On Sunday, 5 August 2018, Samuel started training with the West Coast Wolves with his new boots.

Weekend updates – Gundam, soccer, Finis and alcohols

We found a pair of very small sized soccer boots in Adidas Outlet and bought for Samuel (discounted from $99 to $45).

YowCH also ordered two very strong liquors, Bacardi 151° rum (flammable) and Absinthe (75% alcohol!)

We got a pair of underwater headphones for David, to encourage him for the 50 laps challenge. Finis Duo is designed to transmit sound through bone conductance. New price in Singapore is about $240, we got this second hand at $100.

[added 21 Aug 2018] Photo of the headphones in use in the pool:

Joseph built these 7 Gundam SD models over the past 3 months. He really likes doing this.

Today, Joseph participated in the Bukit Batok East Tourney. We did not win, but had lots of fun and game time.

World Cup 2018 final game

We stayed up to watch the live telecast of the World Cup 2018 final game between France and Croatia (15 July, Sun 11:00pm to 16 July, Mon 1:00am Singapore time).

Grace’s birthday

This is Grace at 44.

Yesterday, we had pre-brithday fruits, 猫山王 (Musang King) durians.

Today, we had dinner at Spruce, located at the Firestation at Upper Bukit Timah.

The food was reasonably good, but a bit pricey. The ambiance is great, with live music and good environment.

We shared a beer, an alcoholic ginger beer.

Grace bought herself a box of Lego Brick Headz and also Salazar for her birthday!

YowCH travel to KL, Esther NAPFA results

YowCH had to spend two days in KL for tender interviews for the Tugu Park project. He stayed at The Boulevard hotel, which is right next to the KL office building in Mid Valley. He reached KL on Monday night (9 July) and left on Wednesday night (11 July).

Managed to catch a morning swim before going to the meeting.

YowCH visited the KTP KL office which has moved into the SJ office.

Esther received a prize T-shirt as top performer for NAPFA test (Physical Fitness), scoring max grades in all 6 categories. The medal is for the most number of inclined pull-ups in this batch.

Sam opens durians, Jo’s Baby-G, Sam’s hormone injections

We bought some durians on Tuesday and Samuel was able to help open them.

We bought Joseph a Baby-G watch, BGA240-1A3, which is meant as a reward for him achieving Swimsafe Gold standard. He has not taken the swim test yet, but his watch is running dead, so we gave him the watch anyway because his training timings have reached the Gold standard.

Samuel is still not growing as fast as he should be, so the doctor in KKH recommended to start on hormone treatment to see if it helps.

This is the whole package:

The auto-injector is applied to the buttocks, with a mild stinging-pain.

YowCH’s eye infection, Fuji F850EXR camera

YowCH had an eye infection started on Tuesday. He saw a doctor on Wednesday and got some medication. But the swelling got quite bad and pushed the eyeball, causing double vision. So he made an eye-patch out of foam card and black elastic band to wear to work.

We needed a replacement workhorse camera (with wide angle and long zoom) after the F500 (bought second hand in March 2014) started showing mechanical and digital problems back in October 2017. With a 50% discount on an old and discontinued model, YowCH bought a new unit of Fujifilm F850 EXR from Harvey Norman for $224.00. They had only white or red, and he chose the former.

Weekend updates

This is the Church Youth Weekend, and service is conducted by the youths in church. These are photos from the Saturday service.

Esther was playing in the band for worship.

David did the decorations with his team.

In the evening, we met YowCH’s family in Bishan for dinner.

The Tans and YowCH’s parents came over the Singapore on Friday noon and left on Sunday morning.

On Sunday, Esther and David continued the Youth Weekend service, so they skipped the swim lesson. After swim, we fetched them from Church and had lunch at Handlebar, Gillman Barracks.

We collected a Wii Dance-Dance Revolution 2 box set from Yan, who picked this from her neighbour’s disposals. The set still works fine!

Another new toy, and free!

Zoo trip with the Tans

We visited the zoo on 23 June, Saturday, with the Tans. Click photos below for the page:

Weekend updates – Transformers, food, soccer, David’s basketball team uniform, Joseph’s lantern

We bought some Transformers, the Minicons (15) are for Samuel and Joseph to share (but more for Samuel).

Rodimus Prime was on offer, got it for $80.00 instead of $99.00.

This is a 2-figures-in-1. Rodimus Prime is the combination of Hot Rod and the caravan. The Matrix of Leadership is inside the chest of Rodimus Prime.

Last Sunday, we went for swim and celebrated Fathers’ Day with a meaty lunch at Henderson Road Kay Lee.

Soccer training had a small turn-up, due to school holidays. We had some games and also theory lessons by the coach.

Here is David in his Gan Eng Seng School official school team uniforms, for home games and away games. He is officially in the school team now.

As part of the school holidays homework, we made a lantern using recycled materials – large 2L PET bottle, old hangers, ice-cream sticks and butter-paper.

The lantern is great, burns the candle very slowly and well shielded from wind.
